"Reflecting on my recent week-long International Immersion Program at Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU) in Singapore fills me with immense gratitude and excitement. The journey was nothing short of transformative, both academically and culturally. 🤗 Immersing myself in the Blue Ocean Strategy course provided by NTU was a profound learning experience. It offered a fresh perspective on strategic thinking and innovation, shaping my understanding of market dynamics and business growth strategies. The collaborative environment fostered insightful discussions and deepened my appreciation for innovative approaches to problem-solving. Beyond the classroom, exploring Singapore was an adventure in itself. From vibrant street markets to stunning architectural marvels, every corner of the city-state offered a new discovery. Amidst the hustle and bustle, I embraced the opportunity to learn about cultural nuances, understanding and respecting the diverse perspectives that enrich our global community.🥰 Of course, navigating the hot and humid weather was an adventure of its own! Despite the challenges, every moment was infused with a sense of wonder and excitement, making it an unforgettable journey. This immersive experience has not only expanded my academic horizons but has also enriched my personal growth. It's a reminder of the endless possibilities that await when we step out of our comfort zones and embrace new experiences. I'm grateful for the friendships forged, lessons learned, and memories created during this remarkable journey. Here's to continued growth, exploration, and lifelong learning! 🎉🎉 #SingaporeImmersion #BlueOceanStrategy #NTUExperience"

In a world where the zeitgeist - and certainly the politics - seems opposed to globalisation, a few thoughts on the value of global education and living. I'm currently in Chiang Mai, Thailand spending some time with a very special family. I lived with my Thai host family for a year, back when I was a 17 year old. As an AFS Intercultural Programs* student, I went to school here (at the very welcoming Wattanothai Payap School) and became part of a global program that traces its history back to 1914, and sent its first exchange student abroad in 1946. Some 30+ years later, I'm back (at least for a weekend) with this amazing family, and I'm reminded why an international education and an international life is so rewarding. That year in Chiang Mai left me with: 1. A second family 2. A global career 3. The realisation that my culture and way of doing things is: a) not the only way; and b) not always the right way What's the message? If you believe in a world where people and goods can move relatively freely, without undue barriers, invest in an international experience yourself. Take that opportunity to study overseas; accept that job offer in another country; send your kids to school or university abroad; learn another language. I'm an optimist. Yes, the voice of populism is loud. But global citizens and global businesses play an important role in educating the broader community on the value of international connections. Working as I do with multinational companies with large, complex operations around the world, I'm happy to say that globalisation is here to stay. *A few words on AFS for any Thai students considering studying abroad: “เอเอฟเอส” คือโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนนักเรียนนานาชาติที่มีเครือข่ายนักเรียนแลกเปลี่ยนและเครือข่ายอาสาสมัคร ตลอดจนเป็นองค์กรแลกเปลี่ยนนักเรียนนานาชาติที่ได้รับความเชื่อถือมากที่สุดในโลก. เว็บไซต์: https://lnkd.in/ehDSYTmQ
