🌟 Spotted: A historical treasure from our archives! 🌟 On 17 August 1360, Stadt Köln received a very special privilege: The seal, granted by the Emperor Charles IV, gave us the right to hold trade fairs twice a year - for eight days before; respectively after St John's Day (24 June) and St Martin's Day (11 November). This official authorisation has contributed immensely to Cologne's status as world-class trading location and has added to the economic and political power of the city over the centuries. 🙌   Even though Koelnmesse as a company was only officially founded about 564 years later, this seal marked an important turning point in the history of the trade fair world. 📚 Since its start as a proper company 1924 - exactly 100 years ago - Koelnmesse has been a vibrant meeting place for innovation, business opportunities and international cooperation. 🤩 📸: Koelnmesse GmbH / Thomas Schäkel #koelnmesse #koelnmesseconnects #history #tradefair 

For anyone interested in the post-pandemic comeback of trade fairs and the future of our industry, we highly recommend reading Carsten Dierig’s insightful piece for Welt, one of Germany’s leading newspapers (link German/no paywall). 📰 As he writes: “Trade fairs were among those hit hardest by the COVID-19 crisis. Venues had to remain closed, events were cancelled, and companies faced bankruptcy. Now, a series of organisers are reporting record results. Not least because the true value of trade fairs has been rediscovered.” Dierig describes how Koelnmesse, in particular, kept on investing in the future of physical trade fairs and events throughout the slump, and then managed to announce record sales in time for its 100th anniversary. Das Thema Verpackung geht uns alle an. Die Zukunft ist vermutlich nicht die EINE Lösung, aber Verpackungen aus Monomatrial gehören zweifelsohne dazu. Wir lassen uns gerne von haptisch attraktiven Umverpackungen aus Papier vereinnahmen, aber leider ist unsere Gesellschaft nicht reif für einen sauberen Trennungsprozess, bevor die Bestandteile in die Wertstofftonne oder den gelben Sack wandern. Profol Europe geht als Hersteller von PP-Produkten / -Folie innovativ voraus. Das Material hat beste Eigenschaften im Recyclingprozess und auch die Energiebilanz bei der Herstellung muss sich nicht verstecken. Mein Tipp: offen sein für nachhaltige Lösungen aus Kunststoff, denn auf den werden wir noch lange nicht verzichten können. #Monomaterial #PPExperts #CircularEconomy

Der deutsche Investor Knauf setzt ganz auf Nachhaltigkeit und gewinnt   den Choose France-Preis „Ökologischer Übergang und Dekarbonisierung“   Die Preisträger wurden von einer Jury unter dem Vorsitz von Pascal Cagni, Vorsitzender des Verwaltungsrats von Business France, ausgewählt. Die Jury setzt sich aus institutionellen Vertretern und Experten aus der Geschäftswelt zusammen. Gewürdigt wurde dabei vor allem die zukunftsfeste und nachhaltige Investition des Baustoffherstellers, der schon lange in den Standort Frankreich investiert. Das deutsche Unternehmen Knauf, Marktführer im Bereich Baustoffe, hat erneut 100 Millionen Euro für die Errichtung einer neuen Produktionsstätte für Deckenplatten aus Mineralwolle in Illange im Osten Frankreichs investiert. 50 neue Arbeitsplätze wurden so geschaffen. Der Konzern verfolgt dabei ehrgeizige Ziele im Bereich der nachhaltigen Entwicklung, einschließlich der Dekarbonisierung: Bis 2032 strebt Knauf eine Reduzierung der CO2-Emissionen um 50 Prozent und die Erreichung der CO2-Neutralität bis 2045 an. 𝘀ü𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 Based on intensive discussions with the exhibitors, Messe Stuttgart is postponing the edition of südback planned for 2025 until 2026. This is in response to the high concentration of trade fairs planned for next year. This autumn’s südback from 26 to 29 October will go ahead as planned, but will no longer reconvene in 2025, but in 2026, from 24 to 27 October. In 2027 südback will take a break as usual before it is staged again in its known cycle in Stuttgart in 2028 and 2029. Stefan Lohnert, President of Messe Stuttgart stated, “It was important for us to keep südback in Stuttgart and in the well-known date framework.
