Still in the mood to reminisce about my final year, let me share another memorable experience. After my IT defense, I had my seminar presentation with the topic: CRISPR-Cas Technology in Microbial Engineering. Starting the research for this topic was quite frustrating; I failed to comprehend the concept behind it. “What is CRISPR?” “Why are these diagrams not helping me grasp the principles of this topic?” “Oh, I think Pinterest would help”. These were the questions and ideas going on in my head. Fast forward to the point where the critical milestones have been reached and I could boldly explain CRISPR to my coursemate. Thanks to my previous level advisor who helped me grasp the underlying principles behind CRISPR. I had so much fun researching this topic as I have a great interest in Biotechnology. What makes CRISPR-Cas Technology even more exciting than other gene editing techniques is the fact that it is easier and more precise and at a high level, I feel like I have grasped the fundamental principle at the heart of this. Definitely cannot wait to have hands-on training on CRISPR-Cas Technology. In general, carrying out this research was strenuous but it was worth it. As the potentials of CRISPR continue to push forward, the chances of how this transformative technology will reshape our world from providing treatment to untreatable diseases to revamping the natural world are truly limitless. #CRISPRTechnology #FinalyearHighlights #GraduationCountdown

Imagine a world where diseases like cystic fibrosis, which affects tens of thousands globally each year, could be cured at the genetic level. Recent scientific breakthroughs in genome editing offer a glimpse into such a future. At the heart of these advances is CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats), a tool that not only promises to revolutionise biological research but also carries the potential to fundamentally alter our approach to genetic disorders, agriculture, and environmental management. Genome editing, facilitated by technologies like CRISPR, involves precisely altering the DNA of a cell or organism to achieve specific outcomes—be it correcting the defective gene responsible for cystic fibrosis or enhancing crop resilience against climate change. As we stand at the threshold of this new era, CRISPR offers extraordinary possibilities to reshape our world. Yet, it also challenges us to consider the ethical dimensions of such power: How do we navigate the fine line between innovation and the natural order? This technology opens doors to unparallelled advancements while urging us to reflect on our responsibilities and the goals we aim to achieve through such profound capabilities. #biological #engineering #cispr #ethics #innovation https://lnkd.in/gJ-pqdyH

🧬 Did you know plants can be edited like paper with a Scissors? Imagine you cutting out a piece of paper to make a perfect shape. You carefully trim away the parts you don’t need and add the pieces you do. That’s exactly how gene editing works—but instead of paper, we’re working with the DNA of living things such as plants. With gene editing, scientists can “snip” specific parts of a plant’s genes and improve traits like resistance to diseases and better nutrition. It’s precise, fast, and has the power to contribute towards food challenges globally. Gene editing is like giving nature a helping hand to do what it already does—but better, showing the power of technology Any new technology in you field you would like to share?
