The CPAWS · SNAP Canada Ocean Team has been super busy over the past few months on an exciting new project that is unlike anything we've done before... We've travelled from BC to the Bay of Fundy, from the St Lawrence River to St Johns, and all the way north to the frozen shores of the Hudson Bay and the polar bear capital of the world - Churchill, Manitoba. Our mission, to get people talking about the ocean and listen to what they have to say. Thanks to CPAWS chapters across Canada and Angus McAllister and his research team for undertaking this wild ride with us. The data was interesting a sold variety of contaminants - out of about 34,000+- tests - there were only 10 samples that violated a drinking water standard and the contaminants were lead (2), arsenic (3), disinfection by-products (1), gross alpha (2), nitrate (1), and nitrite (1). I believe one sample was a private well with the nitrite issue. It is likely that the well has other issues interesting to know the level of ammonia. Nice Work!
