"The Fel­low­ship wants lead­ers who are ready for sig­nif­i­cant pro­fes­sion­al chal­lenges and expand­ed lead­er­ship roles — in major com­mu­ni­ty-build­ing ini­tia­tives and in pub­lic sys­tems. They should not sim­ply aspire to the next rung on the orga­ni­za­tion­al lad­der. The Casey Fel­low­ship is not for every­one. We seek the right peo­ple, but also peo­ple at the right moment in their careers. Fel­lows must be pre­pared to par­tic­i­pate in the pro­gram — com­mit­ting the time and ener­gy to take full advan­tage of the Fel­low­ship oppor­tu­ni­ty while bal­anc­ing the demands of their cur­rent posi­tions. Also, they must com­mit to attend all com­po­nents of the Fel­low­ship opportunity. The Casey Foun­da­tion funds the cost of tuition of the Chil­dren and Fam­i­ly Fel­low­ship as well as all pro­gram-relat­ed expens­es, including:  trav­el to and from Fel­low­ship activities; meals; lodg­ing; and mate­ri­als."

ACRRE chipping in to build PBS leadership in practice and applied research!

In conversations, genuine connections are made. A new 6 word post… My school traditionally holds Student Led Conferences 2 times per year. They go like this: students prepare their best work and reflections to share with their families. On one chosen evening, families conference with their student, and teachers are on “stand by” to answer questions. It’s a longstanding and valuable tradition. Over the years, we’ve realized something was missing. We were missing an opportunity to connect. This year was the year for something new. Working with my team to find a solution, my teaching partner and I piloted a new framework. In one day, we held back to back conferences with almost every family and student in our grade. It was in these conversations that genuine connections were made. Highlights: ✨ Celebrating with a student and his mom when he showcased the first project he independently completed from start to finish this year. ✨ Hearing a student tell her mom that she wants to go to college. I was able to tell my student that, without a doubt, she will go to college. Furthermore, schools will probably pay her to go to their school. ✨ Sharing classroom and home struggles honestly and making plans to meet realistic goals. ✨ Being told time by every family how much they appreciated the time. ✨ Knowing we took a risk to change and it worked.
