Jake George Schuster and I have been travelling around Europe for the last 3 weeks, meeting around 15 different clubs from Premier League, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A, Eredivisie, Belgian Pro League (among the others). Data is ubiquitous in football clubs, and we discussed use cases - and pains - in recruitment, talent ID, match analysis, opposition scouting, performance, sports science, and even business. I am now even more convinced that Gemini Sports Analytics could be the solution to a lot of problems football clubs (and sports organizations in general) have and even to those they don’t know they have. With “problems” I mean both those that are common to a lot of teams (automating data ingestion and pipelines, mapping IDs of different providers’ datasets) and unique to them (questions like what is the best playing style for my system, which kind of players should we recruit, will this young player physically ready for the senior team).
