That’s 29% more than was installed last year, maintaining strong growth even after an estimated 87% surge in 2023. Via PV Mag: " pv magazine interview: ‘In the next year, some of these guys are going to be bankrupt’: At Intersolar in Munich, pv magazine spoke with Jenny Chase, solar analyst at BloombergNEF, about the incredibly low polysilicon prices, massive overcapacity, and increasing consolidation. According to Chase, this year there will be enough polysilicon capacity to produce 1.1 TW of solar modules, but global module demand is expected to reach around 585 GW. “That is a pretty huge delta,” she said, noting that the solar industry should also prepare for a series of “negative feedback mechanisms,” such as negative prices and excess of solar power. Solar capacity additions are changing the shape of the daily electricity supply in Texas, managed by ERCOT. The increase in solar power generation in the state has come as solar capacity has been rapidly added to the grid. According to the EIA, in 2023, installed solar capacity in Texas totaled about 16 gigawatts (GW). Power plant developers are planning to add around 24 GW of solar power net summer capacity to the ERCOT grid in 2024 and 2025, compared with only 3 GW of additional wind power nameplate capacity during the same period. In addition, developers are planning to add 13 GW of battery storage to the electricity grid between now and 2025. By contrast, we estimate 3 GW of added natural gas capacity over the next two years.

UK solar capacity hit 15.6 GW towards the end of 2023. This is great news, since the government has committed itself to delivering up to 70 GW of solar power generation capacity by 2035 — and the pressure is on to step things up before the deadline. This is not to say that meeting the 70 GW target will be easy — there are several obstacles in the UK at the moment. 📈A new poll shows that solar is the most popular power source in Texas - a state in which Standard Solar has a number of projects! 
 
 ⭐73% of Lone Star state voters say their utility should get more of its electricity from solar, outpacing all other sources including natural gas (67%). Texas has long been an energy leader and @Solar Energy Industries Association polling shows that voters want that to continue with MORE SOLAR.
