Preparing for utility installations can be quite complex and costly if not done correctly. Our involvement with the project after receiving a signed acceptance is just as important as beforehand. As soon as a job is accepted, the customer will receive detailed instructions showing what work needs to be carried out on site before any connection work can begin - labelled diagrams and all. This document can be handed to anyone on site and, if followed correctly, will make sure there are no issues come the date of the works - this prevents delays and extra expense. As all the services are being managed from one place, you get a total overview of everything that needs to be carried out with tips on how to make things run as smoothly as possible. Backing this up with a site visit to walk through all works is one of the most valuable things we do for our customers. If this sounds like the level of service you need on your projects, please get in touch.

Do you prefer to text or talk? I’ll never forget the first phone call I made as a site engineer, I was petrified. The call was to get a quote for and air compressor, which I knew nothing about! His first question was what size are you looking for? Fair enough. I didn’t even know there were different sizes! Very quickly I learnt that being able to pick up the phone and have a quick conversation with suppliers, clients or any human was a very good skill to have. In my last infrastructure project I’d easily be on the phone to the contractor at least five times a day. While it can feel a bit scary and confronting time times, personally, I prefer being able to pick up the phone and get something sorted in that moment. Much more effective than an email or text. It seems though that a lot of people prefer text or message to picking up the phone these days… What do you prefer - phone or text? And do you think we need to help future generations to be able to pick up the phone more / have a conversation?

Safety should always be the top priority, particularly in job sites where numerous unknown hazards and human errors exist. Workers face threats from complacency, job pressure to complete tasks on time, incomplete knowledge of functions, or inadequate safety and protocol training. It is essential to be proactive in training and developing workers, as it is too late to seek outside help after an incident occurs. Organizations need to review their safety programs independently to protect their most valuable asset, their workers. At QTS, we work with you to develop safety compliance programs that are tailored to your industry. Our services include safety training, exposure assessment, ergonomic assessment, levels of risk assessment, environmental compliance, and construction safety oversight. These are just a few examples of how we can help. If you need more information on our services, don't hesitate to contact QTS Group or me for support.
"Attention all construction professionals! As we all know, safety should always be our top priority on the job site. That's why it's crucial to understand and be aware of potential safety hazards and take necessary precautions to prevent accidents. Today, I want to highlight the importance of energy isolation hazards and how we can keep ourselves and our team safe. Energy isolation hazards refer to the unexpected release of stored energy, such as electrical, mechanical, or thermal energy, during maintenance or repair work. This can result in serious injuries or even fatalities if proper precautions are not taken. To prevent energy isolation hazards, it's important to follow these key steps: 1. Identify all sources of stored energy in the equipment or machinery. 2. Develop a written energy control plan and make sure all team members are familiar with it. 3. Use lockout-tagout procedures to isolate and control the energy source. 4. Verify that all energy sources have been properly isolated before starting any maintenance or repair work. 5. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with energy sources. In addition to these precautions, it's important to regularly train and educate all team members on energy isolation hazards and the proper procedures to follow. This will not only ensure everyone's safety but also increase overall efficiency and productivity on the job site. Let's all make a commitment to prioritize safety and prevent energy isolation hazards. Share this post with your network to spread awareness and keep our construction sites safe for everyone. #safetyfirst #constructionindustry #energyisolationhazards"
