Situated at the convergence of two roads, the design capitalises on open vistas and abundant natural light, reflecting the retired couple's desire for budget consciousness and boundary optimization. Externally, the structure presents a solid facade, yet upon entry, the perception shifts dramatically. The house unfolds into a spacious haven, challenging the initial impression of compactness. Central to its design is a towering triple-height void that intricately connects various levels. Bridges spanning upper floors further enhance connectivity, while a garden court nestled alongside the dining area anchors the dwelling's vertical volume, offering panoramic views from any level. Materiality plays a pivotal role, with exposed brick and mild steel defining the structure's character. Throughout the design, emphasis is placed on natural illumination, achieved through skylights, expansive windows, and strategically placed glass blocks. The interior design of this space follows a parametric architectural style, using continuous curves and free-form shapes to create a fluid and dynamic environment. I executed this design with precision, leveraging digital design and algorithms to achieve complex forms. The use of organic shapes and seamless surfaces brings a sense of movement and flow to the space, where the walls, ceiling, and floor blend together harmoniously. Natural light enters through skylights inspired by traditional Iranian muqarnas and domes, which enhance natural ventilation, as well as the flow of heat and cool air, improving the overall circulation within the space. This light casts beautiful shadows and reflections over a bed that is seamlessly integrated with the underlying forms. The surfaces are crafted from polished materials such as concrete or modern composites, maintaining the continuity of the curved forms.
