This is actually an amazing post. Resuscitative Hysterostomy (RH) is often mentioned during Cardiac arrest and increasingly taught during simulation workshops, which is a good thing. However it is just over the last few years that this drastic life-saving procedure has acquired this name. In recent years I have come across several excellent 'home-made' as well as international simulation videos that do much to educate doctors about this 'life saving' procedure. A particular honorable mention in this regard goes to video made by my former colleague Neama Ahmed from Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital (SKGH-UQ) and show last year at the Obstetric Crisis course she runs. Though not of high evidence, the numbers(66) from the Systemic Review below are in fact are bit surprising. Though ROSC and event survival rate for mum's was 30% and 25%, the rate of hospital discharge was only 4.5%. On the other hand almost 45% of the babies survived to hospital discharge. Even though the 2020 AHA Guideline states "Simply put, what is best for mom is also best for the baby. The evidence indicates that responding healthcare providers should seek to stabilize mothers in cardiac arrest to achieve better outcomes for both the mother and baby"; the stats below tend to indicate that the chance of 'saving the baby' is much higher in these situations and would support early RH.

Professor Cylie Williams from the School of Primary and Allied Health Care and podiatric medicine course director is part of an MRFF-funded team improving care for children and adolescents with chronic musculoskeletal lower limb pain. The team recently published its first paper, a scoping review that determined that despite chronic pain being commonly reported by clinician-researchers, there is no current framework to map or record it, leading to its invisibility and underrecognition. Increasing the visibility of chronic musculoskeletal pain in children and adolescents will allow a more equitable distribution of funding and resources to better identify and treat kids who are living with chronic pain. Today, I engaged in a meaningful discussion with a prominent group of family medicine specialists on the Cardio-Renal-Metabolic syndrome and the importance of a patient-centric approach. It was eye-opening to discover a lower-than-expected familiarity with the American Heart Association's Cardio-Renal-Metabolic syndrome staging system among these specialists. Empowering primary care providers, especially family medicine specialists, plays a pivotal role in shaping the future landscape of CRM medicine. #FamilyMedicine #PrimaryCare #HealthcareLeadership #CardioRenalMetabolic
