Three things building roam has taught me about building startups: 🎓 1. Pick something you know: Building in the international student market in the US makes sense because I've been through a lot of the things an international student in the US goes through. The problems we are solving are ones I faced myself. ✈️ 🔍 2. Pick something niche: Our target audience is international students in the US, former, current, and future. This makes the market large enough to scale but still small enough to make us a niche provider. This makes it easier to deeply understand who we are servicing. 🌍 🔧 3. Build it your way: There is no rulebook to building a startup. A company is a manifestation of your vision, efforts, and belief systems. You should incorporate your personality and the way you do things into what you’re building. 💡

I woke up today with this question in my head: Which is the most costly problem incubators have? In my professional opinion as a failure or alumni, I believe it is the success rate or the real impact they have that comes from maybe accepting founders without the appropriate Technological and Business readiness level. Also could be the famous "solutions to unexisting problems" in which case the founders might not need an incubator but a marketer 😁 or maybe is that the solutions lack the empathy to be meaningful to their users 🤔 Anyway, with those thoughts in mind, I had a conversation with Gemini and its response to my surprise is about sustainability, storytelling, and social responsibility 😊 although I confess I'm still learning to frame my questions objectively. Here is the summary, do you agree with it? 😎 "In today's era, where sustainability and social responsibility are increasingly shaping supply chains, founders need to possess a unique set of skills to thrive in incubators and beyond. While technical proficiency and business acumen remain essential, several emerging skills are becoming indispensable for success: -Social impact and purpose: Ethical leadership, purpose-driven business. -Global awareness: Cross-cultural understanding, supply chain ethics. -Sustainability: Environmental consciousness, circular economy principles. -Digital transformation: Tech savviness, technology adoption. -Resiliency: Identifying and adapting to changing circumstances is crucial. -Storytelling: compelling narrative for attracting investors and customers."

When do you stop thinking and just take the damn leap? That was the real question on the table last night at Antler’s Vol. 2 event, Corporate or Startups. What kicked off as a typical panel morphed into an unfiltered, gloves-off discussion about the messy transition from corporate life to startup hustle. Stephanie Ping (WORQ), Kai Song E. (GuruLab), and Murali Krishnamurthy (BoomGrow ) didn’t hold back. They shared the raw realities of stepping away from the comfort of a corporate paycheck to build something new—from scratch. The key takeaway? Entrepreneurship isn’t about waiting for the stars to align or the perfect idea to hit. It’s about asking the right questions—of yourself, of your ICP, and of the world around you. If you’re not asking, you’re not learning. And if you’re not learning, you’re not moving forward. The same way you dig into your customers' real needs, you've got to dig into your own motivations. What’s the problem that keeps you up at night? What’s the one thing you need to know to make the leap? That’s where you start. At Antler, we’re committed to creating spaces where these real, tough conversations happen—because that’s what it takes to push founders toward their next big move.
