Three things building roam has taught me about building startups: 🎓 1. Pick something you know: Building in the international student market in the US makes sense because I've been through a lot of the things an international student in the US goes through. The problems we are solving are ones I faced myself. ✈️ 🔍 2. Pick something niche: Our target audience is international students in the US, former, current, and future. This makes the market large enough to scale but still small enough to make us a niche provider. This makes it easier to deeply understand who we are servicing. 🌍 🔧 3. Build it your way: There is no rulebook to building a startup. A company is a manifestation of your vision, efforts, and belief systems. You should incorporate your personality and the way you do things into what you’re building. 💡

Which Startup Will Impress the Jury? Impressing a jury starts with a great pitch, but pitching isn’t easy. You have to spark curiosity about your startup in the shortest possible time. Share your idea, introduce your team, and highlight your startup —briefly but effectively. Our 8 startups underwent intense pitch training, and we’re confident they’ll nail their pitches while avoiding these three common mistakes: 𝟭. 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁! Don’t jump straight to the fix. Make them FEEL the problem first. 𝟮. 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗲! Highlight the BIG benefit, not every tiny feature. 𝟯. 𝗨𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵!
