An interesting urban revitalization and historic preservation project by architect Vincent Callebaut of France. It combines the preservation of a traditional 20th century orthogonal/rectilinear form at the base with a more modern 21st century curvilinear addition at the top, resembling the waves of water, both of which act in combination to reflect the historic tradition of the thermal baths at Aix-les-Bains.

AIA New York and nycoba | NOMA (NY Coalition of Black Architects|National Organization of Minority Architects - NY) share profound concern regarding the recent revisions to the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) 2020 Conditions for Accreditation. The proposed changes, particularly the removal of Section 5.5, “Supportive Environment/Social Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion,” compromise the core values that are foundational to our organizations and to the profession. We encourage you to learn about the revisions and add your feedback on the proposed changes by November 30: https://bit.ly/49cOEB8 (Read our full letter of opposition at aiany.org/NAAB)

🌎 Bridging Danish Architecture to Global Markets Today, we are featured in Licitationen, where our role as facilitators for Danish architects aiming to expand abroad is highlighted. We connect Danish architects with international developers, cities and organisations looking for innovative urban solutions. Right now, our efforts are especially focused on Japan and the US — two markets full of potential but also unique challenges. Whether it’s fostering local partnerships or navigating cultural landscapes, we support both established and emerging architectural companies and other organisations working within sustainable urbanisation in unlocking new opportunities. This is more than just exporting architecture; it’s about sharing Denmark’s collaborative approach to city development, which resonates strongly abroad. Did you know that all our project/work areas must be assessed for potential heritage values and impacts prior to construction? Heritage is a term used to refer to the legacy of the past that is inherited, lived with, and passed on to future generations. There are both tangible and intangible components of heritage. It can feature objects, places, buildings, languages, practices, and traditions which have special architectural, historical, natural, scientific, and cultural significance or value. Heritage provides a link between the past, present, and future and works to preserve the identity of a place or culture. In Western Australia we typically encounter two types of heritage – Aboriginal Heritage and Historic (or European) Heritage. In our approach to heritage, Main Roads adheres to the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 and the Heritage Act 2018 respectively. We place importance on assessing the risk of any potential heritage impact early in a project’s planning stages with the aim to identify and avoid or minimise harm to heritage.
