SBM can help your company serve up hope in the community. We’re proud to work with clients to build and support leftover food donation programs. In nearly every community, there are families facing challenges putting food on the table. According to the USDA, more than 34 million Americans are food insecure. Through our partnerships, we help clients donate leftover food to charitable organizations, turning potential waste into valuable resources for those in need.  Many believe that donating food for human consumption exposes organizations to liability. In reality, the Bill Emerson Food Donation Act of 1996 protects organizations that donate both perishable and nonperishable food in good faith.  Not only does donating surplus food help connect an organization to the community in which they operate, but it also satisfies a credit under the TRUE Certification for Zero Waste program. For support in establishing donation programs, we guide clients in collaborating with local food banks or food rescue organizations. At OVO Foundation, we've been working to create a greener, brighter future for every child since 2014. But what exactly is a charitable foundation? A charitable foundation awards financial grants to charitable organisations. Typically these charitable organisations are aligned to the specific goals or values of the foundation. So in the case of OVO Foundation, we'll only fund charities or projects which help children and young people at the same time as the planet. Currently we fund projects with four partners through our Climate Changers programme, which has reached over 780,000 children and young people. We also give grants to 12 Community Impact Partners annually, for smaller scale projects such as community gardens, food education projects, or city farms. Our Community Impact Partners have reached over 7,000 children and young people, as well as giving OVO colleagues the opportunity to volunteer with them.  🤝 We'll introduce you to our all Climate Changers and Community Impact partners over the coming weeks. 💡 Why it matters: Every project we support must share the goals of the OVO Foundation, and help bring children and young people closer to nature to help kickstart climate action. 🔗 Funding charitable organisations' projects isn't the only thing we do. #DidYouKnow since the start of 2023, Latvian residents have donated over €500,000 through reverse vending machines (RVMs) to various charitable causes? 🙌 Here are some highlights: 👉 36% of donations (€182,261) have supported Ukrainian children and refugees 👉 36% (€180,092) have gone to animal shelters, helping 2,410 animals in 6 shelters across Latvia 👉 16% (€82,309) have supported seniors in need, providing essential daily goods and medical services 👉 Additionally, the "Age is Not Lonely" project at Lidl stores has raised over €51,000 for seniors. This generosity highlights how deposit return systems (DRS) not only promote recycling and environmental cleanliness but also generate meaningful social-economic outcomes, including additional revenue streams for charities and other non-profit organisations. I recently did a radio interview and I was asked what have nurseries got to do with climate change. I explained that the decisions we make regarding the three pillars of sustainibaility ( economic, social and environmental) are critical to how we look after the planet which will be inherited by our youngest citizens; our babies! At LEYF our sustainability strategy is hooked around the three pillars and how we lead, our operations and social pedagogy. You can access this on our London Institute Early Years page of London Early Years Foundation (LEYF). Using Green Bottoms Ltd is one way of making sustainable decisions, that will go some way to reduce the huge nappy landfill. A baby gets through 4000-6000 nappies by the time they are potty trained and every year, 167 billion nappies are produced using 248.5m barrels of crude oil. They are hard to recycle because of the mix of materials and human waste, so the vast majority end up in landfill and take 100 years to degrade. Therefore biodegradable nappies that are recycled to build roads is the way to go. Every decision you make is a positive step, so think about partnerships that help reduce waste,
