What a way to kick off All-Energy Exhibition and Conference! As announced this morning, we’ve joined forces with ports and harbours throughout the country as part of Scottish Offshore Wind Ports Alliance (SOWPA). Scotland’s offshore wind industry is growing rapidly and despite high levels of optimism, we recognise this growth will create industry-wide challenges. Ports and harbours throughout the country will be vital to Scotland's energy transition so it is essential we exchange knowledge to address shared obstacles. This morning, SOWPA Chair Iain Sinclair, said - “It is widely recognised that ports have a critical enabling role in the industrialisation and deployment of offshore wind in the UK. ⚡️ The Bałtyk II offshore wind farm, a project by Equinor and Polenergia, has secured a building permit from the Polish Government, following a similar approval for the Bałtyk III project's offshore export cables. 🌍 On 3 July, the Pomeranian Voivodeship issued a permit for Bałtyk II’s submarine export cables, and on 5 July, approved the construction of its 50 wind turbines. Additionally, Bałtyk III received its permit for export cables on the same day. Both wind farms will feature Siemens Gamesa turbines, with each farm generating 720 MW. ♻️ Equinor and Polenergia also signed agreements for manufacturing transition pieces for the projects. Located in the Polish Baltic Sea, the three Bałtyk wind farms, including Bałtyk I, will collectively generate up to 3 GW of green energy, powering over four million households. #offshorewind #renewableenergy #windenergy #poland #equinor

Suppliers Needed For Salamander Project UK AND NORTH SEA  Salamander floating wind farm to launch second call for suppliers (Energy Voice)  The Salamander floating wind project is set to launch the second phase of its call for supplier innovations. The 100 MW joint venture project between Ørsted, Simply Blue Group and Subsea7 will open the call on 3 December. Suppliers will have until 14 January to get in touch. The Salamander team will kick off the call for supply chain firms during a webinar next month. Those behind the Salamander project have laid out five areas of interest for suppliers to reach out about: construction and operational health and safety; wind turbine foundation integration; novel anchor technology; low-carbon materials and processes, and construction vessel optimisation. 🌍 Polenergia and Equinor have signed contracts with several companies for the development of the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms in Poland. ✅ ENPROM, a Polish company, will be responsible for designing and constructing the onshore cable infrastructure, including 220 kV and 400 kV cable tracks and fiber optic cables. The Smulders-Sif consortium will manufacture and supply transition pieces, monopiles, and secondary steel components, with assembly occurring in Belgium. We’re on the brink of a significant milestone as Italy prepares to approve new regulations for offshore wind development. This much-anticipated regulation is set to provide clarity and support for the industry, but with a focus on floating offshore wind. Key points: 🔹𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Expected approval any day now to kick-start offshore wind development in Italy. 🔹 𝗔𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: The new regulation may include auctions and support exclusively for floating offshore wind, potentially sidelining fixed-bottom projects. 🔹 𝗔𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: The FER II Decree outlines plans for auctions totaling 3.5 GW between 2022 and 2026, with subsidies awarded as 20-year contracts-for-difference. The initial auction price cap is set at 165 EUR/MWh. While this draft regulation marks a significant step forward for floating offshore wind, it also raises concerns about the future of fixed-bottom projects without subsidies.
