Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor: If you know me, you know I don't wait for opportunities - I create them. 2024 proved that vision boards become reality when you combine determination with an incredible support system. 🐝 This year taught me that making higher education accessible means being bold enough to create the paths we need, not just walking existing ones. From creating my own dual degree program to being accepted into the Fannie Angelos Program at UBalt Law, every step forward opened doors for others. Key moments that made my heart full: • Accepted into UBalt Law 2025 cohort (vision board manifestation! ✨) • Created custom dual degree program when existing ones didn't fit • Selected as 2024 Albrecht Fellow at World Trade Center Institute • Maintained 3.84 GPA while serving on 6 boards and 14 groups • Earned Certified Victim Assistance Specialist certification • Expanded community impact through Women of Color Student Association Three posts that captured our journey: "This has been an amazing year..." ⭐What is it like to join KES Sixth Form? ⭐ Visitors to KES often ask what to expect when you join King Edward's in the Sixth Form, or how does it compare to lower down the School, so we asked Mr Benedict, Head of Sixth Form, for an insight. "The Sixth Form is the most exciting culmination of your school life: it is the liminal space between childhood and adulthood, and a time when KES nurtures its young people to be ready for their next adventure. "Our Sixth Form is a place where students have agency and autonomy – whether it is the range of passions they choose to pursue, or the diverse subjects they choose to study – as well as a time of new friendships, new freedoms, and new experiences. But the Sixth Form is more than its academic performance. It is a space of safety and support, of risk-taking and challenge, of failure and resilience. We prepare young people to be equipped for the unknowable world they will inherit in terms of emotional regulation and life skills, of critical thinking and tech utility. "You cannot navigate the world with any aptitude without a bit of knowledge, a dose of difficulty, and a lot of hard work, and so a rich and thriving Sixth Form experience prepares young people with compassion and aspiration. "The world our students will encounter is changing at an inexorable rate and so the young people who leave KES will need to be flexible and nimble thinkers, with myriad skills and diverse portfolios, critical faculties and a global conscience, a sense of humour and a sense of purpose. Dear Yale-NUS College Alumni, Current Students, Staff & Faculty past and present. Quick pitch! I love our LABs. I love how they’ve evolved from their beginnings, what they’ve done for us in different ways, and I have great hope for what they can do for us post-2025. I hope they stay but, again, evolve post-2025. They may not look exactly the same (read: probably mostly self-funded save for goodwill and corporate sponsorships) but immediate benefits include lending us corporate legitimacy and thematic direction to access meaningful places we otherwise cannot as tourists or individuals, and expand our networks and horizons - whether academically, professionally, or just personally (like a fun reunion and educational getaway with friends). As we build own careers and networks, our LABs can evolve quite unimaginably too, beginning from how we ourselves may become conveners, door-openers, and experts. This excites me a great deal. I want to make the case for thinking about post-2025 LABs but can’t do it alone. I hope to have a small mix of students, alumni, and staff to work on this - to pitch it to the YNC Society and keep them in the loop, plus have their blessing and YNC’s blessing, to then work with CIPE while they’re still around to see how we can develop these ideas more concretely. They are, after all, the experts while we have them all together for a final year that will come and go very quickly. If you’re interested, let’s chat and achieve alignment before we ring up our friends in the society and CIPE. If you’ve already been working on similar ideas or know someone who has been, it’d be great if we could consolidate efforts or at least keep in touch. This is, after all, for all of us. Getting hired by STUDENTS is a true ✨ highlight ✨ of our year! We were beyond honored to partner with the Rise Up Red Wing Youth Council and facilitate a Co-Design workshop for students and staff at Red Wing High School. (Shout out to Allegra Smisek for championing this work!) Our goal? To build the capacity for Red Wing staff and students to build power together while engaging in meaningful learning experiences and developing transferable 21st century skills. Sometimes for students, it may be intimidating to talk to adults in the “hierarchy” which we have talked about, but as this workshop progressed, the hierarchy diminished and allowed students to feel heard and in the same position as these educators.
