Back in September, we had the pleasure of being sponsor of the month for Wasteshark Leeds, celebrating its official launch just a few months earlier in July. 🦈 So, how’s the little guy been doing since then? Let’s dive into the stats... During our sponsor month, WasteShark covered an impressive 4.59 kilometres and scooped up a whopping 768 litres of mixed waste (both man-made and natural) - that’s a huge amount for one little drone! Since it first entered Leeds' waterways, the bot has travelled 19.44 kilometres and removed an incredible 2,136 litres of waste. 👏 While we recognise that there's still a lot of work to do when it comes to changing behaviours and caring for our environment, it's projects like these that really drive forward the power of innovation and collaboration. West Suffolk Leads the Way in Recycling Innovation! Earlier this year, we partnered with #WestSuffolkCouncil to launch an innovative recycling trial using reverse vending machines, making them the first council in England to embrace this initiative with Trovr. Thanks to the positive results over the past six months, we’ve extended the trial and are now gearing up to expand with even more recycling locations. This pioneering effort has focused on: Promoting Sustainable Habits: Encouraging residents to adopt greener practices by offering rewards and prizes through the Trovr app for recycling single-use drink containers, while also preparing the community for the upcoming National Deposit Return Scheme. Reducing Carbon Footprint: Tracking and minimizing the carbon impact by reducing the number of containers sent to landfills, with nearly 200 kg of CO2 saved during the trial. Supporting the Local Economy: Strengthening the community by allowing residents to redeem Trovr points at participating local businesses. This trial marks a significant step towards building a more sustainable and environmentally-conscious community. Once a month, Brite's can deposit crew heads out to the Campbellfield deposit site to recycle cans collected through the CDS Vic scheme. Last week, the team hit a new record, earning $174.40 from recyclables, adding to an overall profit of $1,393.40 to be reinvested into Brite, as decided by the ERC. Led by Gerald and Owen, the team always embarks on their recycling mission in good spirits, with plenty of smiles aboard the bus. Here’s what some of our team members had to say about the experience: • Andrea: “I really enjoyed putting cans in the machine and working as a team offsite.” • Shane: “It’s fun going offsite and nice contributing to Brite with the cans from home.” • Domenic: “It’s fun to put the cans in the big machine and see how the deposit machine works.” We're proud of their hard work and dedication to making a positive impact at Brite!
