🚨 100 Miles, 24 Hours, One Mission: Escape from Meriden for Alzheimer's Research UK 🚨 On Friday, November 15th, at 11:59:59 PM, I’ll be embarking on one of my biggest challenges yet: a 24-hour, running event called Escape from Meriden. It’s a nonstop endurance test where I’ll have to carry everything I need or buy supplies along the way, traveling as far as possible before the clock strikes midnight again the next night. My aim will be to cover a minimum of 100 miles. This is more than just a run. I’m running to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Research UK, a cause incredibly close to my heart. Alzheimer's steals memories, independence, and so much more from those affected and their families. Research is the key to unlocking a cure, and together, we can make a difference. Every pound raised goes directly to Alzheimer's Research UK to help advance treatments and bring us closer to a cure. Whether it’s £1 or £100, every bit of support brings us closer to a world without Alzheimer’s. https://lnkd.in/e7e9g5gi Thank you for your support – let’s go the distance together, for a future free from Alzheimer’s. #EscapeFromMeriden #AlzheimersResearch #24HourChallenge #RunningForACure #SupportTheFight

I'm continuing my fight for a world without Alzheimer's. As part of my commitment, I serve on the 2024 Silicon Valley Walk to End Alzheimer's Executive Leadership Team. https://lnkd.in/gVtSPWJv Here are some facts about Alzheimer's: (1) Nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's. (2) One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia. (3) Alzheimer's kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. (4) More than 11 million Americans provide unpaid care for people with Alzheimer's or other dementias. (5) In 2024, Alzheimer's and other dementias will cost the United States $360 billion. This number is projected to rise to nearly $1 trillion in 2050. If you are able, please help me raise money to help fight Alzheimer's and other dementia. Litherland, Kennedy & Associates will match any donations I receive and if you live in the Bay Area, you could also win lunch with me if you donate $100 or more.

We are officially 5 days from Walk Day, and we still need your help to hit our goal and help END Alzheimer's!! More than 6.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease. It is the 5th leading cause of death for individuals over 65. Half of primary care physicians believe the medical profession is not prepared for the growing number of people with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. ⅔ of Americans with Alzheimer’s are women. By 2050, it is expected that a total of almost 13 million Americans will be living with Alzheimer's. The amount of people affected by this disease, aside from those who have it, is too great of a number to even try to guess. Sigma Kappa fights to end Alzheimer's every day and prides itself on being the first sorority to recognize the need for a more comprehensive study on aging and memory in the elderly community. Our mission is to bring awareness to the disease and raise money to find a cure. Alzheimer's is the ONLY disease in the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States that is unable to be cured, prevented, or slowed down. Many people suffer directly from this disease, and many more struggle seeing their loved ones go through this terrible disease. Sigma Kappa is proud to have been the second largest national team last year, bringing in almost 1.5 MILLION dollars to the cause. With quite an ambitious fundraising goal, Sigma Kappa, Kappa Pi at Clemson University is asking for your support in fighting Alzheimer's. We pride ourselves on being one of the Top 3 fundraising teams for Sigma Kappa, and top 30 in the nation. We hope to continue to raise even more awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support, and research. Please consider donating below, as this is a disease that everyone needs cured. When we one day find a cure for this horrible disease, we will look back and be able to see how every donation made helped to support the Alzheimer's Association in that discovery. I, along with my sisters at Kappa Pi, fully believe there is no organization more worthy of your donation. Sincerely, Kate Jefferson, Vice President of Philanthropic Service & Sisters of Kappa Pi https://lnkd.in/g683phDW

Pilot studies are first stage research studies that are done to prove a theory is worth investigating further, before big scale studies can happen. No big dementia research studies happen without them. BRACE is one of the few organisations funding pilot studies. Each year we have to turn down countless projects due to a lack of funds, potentially missing breakthroughs in dementia research. Every donation, no matter the size, takes us one step closer to a cure: https://lnkd.in/eHc-9Dv8 #RootOfDementia

Here are some ways you can get involved: Fundraise: You can donate to organizations that help advance research and provide care and support for people with Alzheimer's. Share information: You can spread the word about Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Talk to loved ones: You can help raise awareness by talking to your loved ones about dementia. I cannot understate the huge importance of pilot studies - all research starts with a new idea to address a need, be it for a group of people or an important gap in knowledge. However, when there are limits to the amount of funding that is available, getting some data to see whether the idea has true merit to be pursued further helps both the researchers and funders identify priorities and where to make the best use of the limited funds. Also, in the vein of look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves, in the same way - funders who have greater capacity to funder bigger studies need valuable pilot data to reassure them that bigger investments goes where the research is on to something. So pilot studies unlock bigger funding opportunities that can progress the research more quickly at scale. So any one pilot study could be the beginning of the biggest of breakthroughs for dementia or that unlocks a key missing clue where an already developed area research has stalled or is stuck and can be much closer towards completion e.g. a new treatment or improved diagnosis method. So pilot studies are so vital to all of us and offer a beginning to the end of dementia.

Hi Linkedin 👋 *personal post alert* My 60 year old dad is running the Leeds marathon in May for the Alzheimer's Society - a cause very close to our hearts. Although it's quite last minute we hope to raise as much money as possible to support the charity. For those who aren't aware, here are some key facts about Dementia: ✴ Dementia is the leading cause of death in the UK, accounting for over 74,000 deaths in 2022. ✴ 1 in 3 people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime ✴ Compared to other major health conditions, investment research in dementia remains low. ✴ The number of people with dementia is predicted to rise to over 1.1 million by 2030 and 1.6 million by 2040. ✴ Dementia is one of the UK's biggest health and social care crises. Please join us in supporting the fantastic work that the Alzheimer's Society does by donating using the link below ✨ https://lnkd.in/enZQ5rYx
