Its role includes: #Achieving_Air_Balance: Pressure helps regulate the flow of air and gases inside the furnace, ensuring optimal combustion of fuel, and thus controlling the desired furnace temperature. #Preventing_Gas_Leakage: It is crucial to maintain pressure balance to avoid hot gases from leaking out of the furnace or external air entering, which could affect combustion efficiency and lead to temperature instability. #Impact_on_Melting_Quality: Proper pressure balance contributes to even heat distribution inside the furnace, directly affecting the quality of the glass melting process and the homogeneity of the final product. Suitable Devices for Pressure Measurement #Manometer: The manometer is most suitable for measuring low pressures like mmH2O and is specifically used for measuring side pressure in pipes. Appropriate Pressure Measurement Units Pascal (Pa): 1 Pascal equals 1 Newton per square meter and is the basic unit of pressure. Bar (bar): 1 bar equals 100,000 Pascals. Millimeter of Water (mmH2O): Used for measuring low pressures, where 1 mmH2O equals 9.81 Pascals. How to #Measure_Pressure Using a #Manometer To measure furnace pressure, the manometer is connected to the pipes installed at the sides of the furnace, which are typically dedicated for measurements: 1. Measurement Pipes: Small pipes are installed on the sides of the furnace, one for measuring internal pressure and the other for external or exhaust pressure. 2. Connecting the Manometer: The manometer is connected to these pipes, with one end attached to the internal pressure (inside the furnace) and the other to the external or side pressure (around the furnace). 3. Reading the Pressure: The manometer measures the difference between the two pressures, providing an accurate idea of the pressure balance inside the furnace and its effect on the melting process. The attached image illustrates the basic idea, knowing that the tube is a water box under the furnace.
