We are really excited to announce a new project that has been kicked off across Gippsland: ->Regenerative Rotational Cover Crop Trial program (RRCCTP) The aim of this program is to pilot different cover crop varieties, using regenerative and circular economy centred farming practices. The crop varieties will include: 🌲hemp, as seen on the video below 🌻sunflower 🌼canola 🌽maize 🌱bullrush and other water lilies While also developing a business case for farmers to get excited about. The business case will focus on a number of aspects, but the key component is around understanding key operational costs and trying to lower those key operational costs by value adding the farm behind the meter. This can be done in a few ways, and from both an energy crop, fuel crop perspective, we want to give the traditional business model a circular design focus! It's hard to use the word "thrilled" without subscribing to the standard LinkedIn self-congratulatory exuberance - so I am 'pretty damn excited' to get cracking on this partnership with Catona Climate. Positioning agriculture as a climate solution is essential in our ragged sprint to net-zero. We desperately need more folks like Catona who have the appetite to really dig in on the latest science, the patience to grapple with the nuance in soil-based carbon projects and the ambition to create this new category of nature-based carbon removal. At Indigo we want to get farmers paid as much as possible for doing everything society is demanding from them: cleaner water, healthier soil, more nutritious crops. There's also a path here to reducing and removing billions of tons of carbon from the atmosphere every year. What are you willing to pay for that?
