Young #Inuit leaders from the North West Territories are speaking up as #climate change impacts their culture, traditions and way of life. They have formed an ‘Advisory of Inuit Young Leaders’ as part of a project called ‘ Carving out Climate Testimony ’ to address these challenges, as part of a project that is funded by CINUK, bringing together Inuit communities, and an international team of academics. This research focuses on the impacts of climate change on youth well-being and amplifying Inuit youth voices and leadership. SeeChange will be partnering with CINUK at ArcticNet's Arctic Change Conference in Ottawa in December. https://lnkd.in/gx2kTzQ2

I believe that much of the damage we have done to the earth was allowed to happen because so many of us don't see ourselves as part of the living system that is life on this planet. Part of the work we do in the realm of climate action should include taking steps to heal that disconnection. https://lnkd.in/e9WQkMTA

Attended the Portland Wings Conference on Climate Techbology and community today. It was an incredible day. Well done Technology Association of Oregon. Elaine Hsieh It started with this video. Please take a few minutes to watch it. A single small act by each of us can have massive impact. This combined with systemic deep changes as discussed in #earth4all we can make a difference. Are you going to try this below ? Will you share this with others to follow suit? What similar things can we do ? #WingsConference2024 #climatechange https://lnkd.in/grPuE7R4

With #COP29 currently in progress, we repost this video trailer for Amir Lebdioui’s book Survival of the Greenest: Economic Transformation in a Climate-conscious World (Cambridge University Press 2024). In this book, he exposes some of the myths surrounding the ‘green agenda’ and reflects on what industrial policy looks like for nations joining the green industrialisation race. https://lnkd.in/eeAcaDmq

It is a combination of shock and kick in the guts effect. Complex Systems thinking and circularity at every scale is required to change this for a good future. The 3R Principles we use combined are: Regenerative & Restorative & Renovative WaterCatchment Landscape Management.
Why Apu? is a six-part series that explores that very question 'why is it being consumed?' A pātai which is both complex and complicated, intertwining people, culture, social conditions and the relationship to land and the environment. A combination of historical human impact, environmental degradation, cultural alienation, climate change, natural disasters and multiple government interventions. A situation which has left many locals wondering how they will remain on and in their tribal homelands. https://lnkd.in/gpxP3WBz

🌍 Driving behavior change around #climate is one of the most urgent challenges of our time. So what’s stopping us from making progress faster? Inspired by this year’s #ClimateWeekNYC theme, “It’s time,” Stronger Stories partnered with Global Washington and The Hunger Project to dive into the power of storytelling to drive behavior change - with a focus on climate action. 📽️ Missed the webinar? GlobalWA made very kindly made it public! Catch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/gap8GTHm We drew on examples from climate innovators, Hollywood, and social movements to explore how change goes from a small group of pioneers to the mainstream. We also uncovered why some stories fall short and revealed three secrets behind those that truly change minds and behaviors: 💡 Secret 1: Diversify the values you appeal to, attracting a larger audience 🎬 Secret 2: Choose your story type and simplify the plot (hint: avoid tragedy story types) o 🌟 Secret 3: Make your audience the hero, and be the mentor. One of the standout moments was input from Jenna Recuber towards the end of the webinar, where she shared her reflections on storytelling to build belief in creating a world without hunger. With 75+ attendees, Guy Pattison, Will Hill and I ran out of time to address all the questions — but we care deeply about this topic and will always make time to help. If you were there and didn’t get your question answered, or if you’re watching the video and have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. 💬 One final plug, working with Joel Meyers and the GlobalWA team has been brilliant and we're doing a members-only workshop in Seattle next week. If you are an organization focused on global development, I highly recommend you check out GlobalWA membership and/or register for their upcoming conference in Dec. #StorytellingForChange #ClimateAction #ClimateStorytelling #Sustainability #BehaviorChange #SocialImpact #ClimateCrisis #GlobalGoals #ClimateJustice #StrongerStories #TheHungerProject #GlobalWA
