#BERDO (Building Energy Reporting and Disclosure Ordinance) is crucial for Boston for several key reasons: If you are in Boston on June 18th you want to join us at Sasaki Tamar Warburg thank you for your leadership! Also, thank you to Tristan Rock Meredith McCarthy Christopher Ng-Hardy Alison N. and the entire Sasaki team! -**Climate Change Mitigation:** Boston is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and addressing climate change. Buildings are a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions. By monitoring and disclosing energy use, BERDO helps identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements, leading to reduced emissions. - **Energy Efficiency:** BERDO encourages building owners to improve energy efficiency. By tracking and reporting energy usage, building owners can identify inefficiencies and make informed decisions about upgrades and retrofits, which can lead to significant energy savings. - **Economic Benefits:** Energy-efficient buildings can reduce operating costs for owners and tenants. This can make properties more attractive to potential tenants and buyers, potentially increasing property values. - **Public Health:** Reducing energy consumption and emissions can lead to improved air quality, which has direct benefits for public health. This is particularly important in urban areas like Boston, where air pollution can be a concern. - **Data-Driven Policy:** BERDO provides valuable data that the city can use to inform and refine its energy and climate policies. This data-driven approach ensures that policies are effective and targeted. - **Sustainability Leadership:** By implementing and enforcing BERDO, Boston positions itself as a leader in sustainability and climate action. This can enhance the city's reputation and attract businesses and residents who value sustainability. - **Regulatory Compliance:** BERDO helps ensure Boston complies with state and federal energy regulations. This alignment is crucial for securing funding and support for various sustainability initiatives. In summary, BERDO is a critical tool for Boston's efforts to combat climate change, improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, enhance public health, and demonstrate sustainability leadership. #Boston #EnergyEfficiency #SustainabilityLeadership #ClimateAction #PublicHealth #DataDrivenPolicy #RegulatoryCompliance
