Over 80 experts and practitioners met on october 24, 2024 for the «Surface Technology Meets Industrial Reversable Bonding» event in Fribourg of the NTN Innovative Surfaces Association . Efficient, sustainable, future-oriented – this is the goal of #GEPROBA: The research project led by the LKR Leichtmetallkompetenzzentrum Ranshofen of AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is taking Wire-arc Directed Energy Deposition (#waDED) to the next level. By optimizing torch technology, adapting power sources, and developing innovative special wires, productivity in additive manufacturing of large vehicle components is significantly increased. LKR expert Mathias Silmbroth summarizes: “With GEPROBA, we are laying the foundation for the industrial use of waDED technology, enabling not only higher productivity but also greater sustainability in manufacturing.” The project is carried out in cooperation with Wilhelm Schwarzmüller GmbH, Bitter GmbH, INO GmbH R&D Division, and AVL List GmbH and funded by Upper Austria.
