At a time when #collegeeducation is facing its greatest challenge, a demand to stay relevant, I've been fortunate to teach a seminal college course called "Communication in Organizations" at Roger Williams University. I #teach this course in particular from an industry-centric perspective. Becoming "#careerready" and #personalgrowth is always my focus because many of my students are on their final leg of college and some are already on the #jobmarket by the time they take this class. To make this approach to a college class work, I cant do it alone. I need help from my colleagues in industry. Shoutout to the all the #industryprofessionals who shared their time, #expertise and energy to RWU via my "Communication in Organizations" course this past two academic years: Tres-Ann Kremer, PhD - Regional Director, Caribbean - Tony Blair Institute. Angela Ankoma - Director of Equity Leadership Initiative, Rhode Island Foundation. Theresa Matos Agonia - Former Deputy Communication Chief, Mayor of Providence. Giovanni Pinto - Senior Communication and Legislative Advisor, Office of Connecticut Governor, Ned Lamont. Sarah von der Linde - Clients Relations, New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq. Monsurat O. - Attorney at Law and Cybersecurity strategist, Homeland Security. Margaret (Maggie) Werner - Senior Communications Specialist, Hartford Healthcare Group, Connecticut. Sabrina Caserta, Former reporter turned Media Analyst and Legal investigator Basil Waite - Entrepreneur and Former Government of Jamaica senator. David Prendergast - Diplomat and Trade policy Specialist. Lyndon Taylor - Public Relations Specialist, formerly of Finn Partners, NYC. Connor Lewis, Visual Communications specialist, Studio Lewis, Massachusetts. To bring the industry into the classroom is to help students bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and current application in the workplace and business environment. Industry professionals invited to guest lecture also model for students the value of leading with your #personalbrand and owning the unique value that they can deliver to potential #employers. Lots of administration, planning and coordination to pull this off. All we can hope is that students see the benefit and engage in the process in a way which is meaningful and beneficial to their career and #personaldevelopment. Loads of thanks everyone! Much love ♥️ 🟣 Dr. Hume

Interpersonal Interactions, Purpose, and the Ascension to Provost Dr. Watson discusses her career ascension and the highs and lows of interpersonal interactions along the way. There is much more to the job than student-faculty interactions. We have to work with peers, senior faculty, and leaders. It can be particularly rewarding but encountering "mean girls" can be crushing. Navigating interpersonal interactions in higher ed can be rewarding if you have the right support. Dr. Watson provides tips for surviving challenging situations such as reflecting on your purpose, engaging your external network, and assessing the campus environment. https://lnkd.in/gccNyxi7

I am a graduate student at Metro State U studying in the MAPL (Masters in Advocacy and Political Leadership) program and I am looking to interview 5 policy leaders, advocates, leaders or others in the healthcare arena. I have 8 questions in total but if you answer 5 of them I would be more than appreciative of your time and expertise. These are the questions: (Feel free to add more information) 1: What steps do you take when analyzing policies? 2: What are recent federal actions to address disparities? 3. What are key issues related to health disparities looking ahead? 4. How do you ensure your policy recommendations are evidence-based? 5. How do you prioritize policy issues when working on multiple projects? 6. Can you explain a policy analysis model or framework you've used effectively? 7. What role do stakeholders play in your policy analysis process? 8. How does the organization ensure that its policy recommendations are informed by diverse perspectives and evidence-based research? Could you give me your first name or initials and job title?

Last week marked 9 months in my new role. It came with more accountability, more teammates, and a lot of opportunity for growth. If you're going through a transition like this or anticipate one, I recommend taking a look at the following books. I promise you'll learn something new from every one of them. 📚 Getting Things Done, by David Allen - Just read it! Everyone can take something away from this one. How to Run a College: A Practical Guide for Trustees, Faculty, Administrators, and Policymakers, by Brian Mitchell and W. Joseph King - Written at the right level for the right people, and more timely than ever. Whatever It Is, I'm Against It: Resistance to Change in Higher Education, by Brian Rosenberg - I've worked in higher ed my whole career and have never read a more compelling diagnostic. Workplace Attachments, by Victoria Grady et al. - An evidence-based approach to understanding the relationship between employee and employer.

Degrees are just receipts for the cost of education; true knowledge is reflected in your character and actions. 🎓✨ In the PR industry, it’s not just about what you know—it’s about how you connect, communicate, and create impact. Your work, ethics, and results are the true measure of your expertise. Let your actions speak louder than your credentials. #PublicRelations #PRLife #CharacterMatters #KnowledgeInAction #StayInspired
