As spirits continue to gain popularity versus other categories, they're increasingly important to a perhaps unexpected segment of the on-premise: brewery taprooms. At Chicago's Old Irving Brewing Co., beer is the most-ordered type of alcohol, but cocktails and wine punch above their weight in terms of dollar sales. "Our cocktail program is integral to Old Irving's identity,” says Matthew Moldenhauer, Old Irving’s director of operations. “Some people come just for our food, not even being beer drinkers, so being able to offer other high-quality options is great.” For more data on non-beer alcohol sales at brewery taprooms and how these businesses can respond to drinkers' increased interest in spirits, dive into our latest newsletter: https://lnkd.in/g5xFWfmb

Feedback on our refreshed brand and portfolio has been fantastic across the board but our small team LIVES for reviews like this one... "I was in dire need of a good beer. I was sick and tired of the same old rubbish on today's shelves at the local super marche. You know the ones that claim to be unique but are sold in the millions. Anyhow I stumbled upon this brewery with someone leaving a bottle at a Welsh caravan park that I visited. I thought I had won the lottery until I tasted it. Then I knew I had won the lottery. The great tasting beer lottery. If you don't try this brewery's beer your missing out on a small fortune. So good was the beer I ordered 48 bottles on the new fan dangled inter web thingy. It's the only time the things proved it's weight in gold to be honest. Quick delivery value for money and the beer was immaculately flavoured. If carlsberg did beer like this it would make carlsberg actually worth drinking instead of using it for cleaning the drains. Unfortunately I moved to England more than half my life ago. This beer helped me to rediscover my taffness. It filled me with joy and the sort of warmth that you never get when in the valleys and rarely get in the UK. I heard rumours that this beer was filtered through Pablo Escobar socks hence the fluffy feeling you get upon experiencing it and how addictive it becomes as no other beer satisfies afterwards. Anyhow enough from me. In a nutshell You will not be disappointed with the taste, quality or rappidness ness of delivery. This company might be small but it certainly knows how to take care of its customers and fans. Enjoy your beer? Enjoy Tomos Watkin. There's not a bad choice amongst any of them when it comes to flavour. Don't bother choosing which brew and don't bother choosing anything other than this small company. Thank you people who work at this company from the shop floor to the top of the food chain, you must surely be a great team. Will be ordering again as they never seem to last long in my house. Perhaps a bigger bulk buy or quarterly order is required 🤔" - Colin M. 🍻Iechyd da! #TomosWatkin #GreatAlesofWales #WelshBeer #Cwrw #DrinksIndustry

🤳Picture this, ten years ago you went to open a cooler and reach for a cold beverage and what would you find? Beer. 🍺Maybe some craft brews and mostly BIG name beer. 🍺 💪🏼 It's what dominated the beverage scene. Beer was the go-to for social gatherings, tailgates, and backyard barbecues. 🍔 The options were pretty straightforward, with not as many choices as we have now in the ready-to-drink space. ➡️Nowadays, when you look into a cooler, it's a whole different story. There’s a variety of options, from seltzers to craft cocktails, and Carbliss - THE PREMIUM Ready to Drink Cocktail is right there, sharing that market space with beer. People are no longer limited to just one type of drink; they can reach for a premium, ready-to-drink cocktail like Carbliss🍑🍋, which offers a refreshing alternative to traditional beer. It’s a reflection of how tastes have evolved and how people are looking for more diverse, quality options in their beverages.🎉 This text exemplifies this scenario perfectly. ➡️4 half barrels is equivalent to 496 beers. ➡️496 beers and 450 Carbliss. Win! We love to hear these stories. Thanks for sharing, Jake! #rtd #marketshare #beverageindustry #entrepreneur #ceo #veteranowned

Stout popularity soars to make it Britain’s fastest growing beer! Stout has become so popular again that it is now the fastest growing beer variety in the UK. In the last year volume demand for the malty, full-bodied, dark beer with a creamy head has grown by 35% at Tesco. Historically, Irish stout, including Guinness, dominated the British beer market for well over a century, but towards the end of the 20th century it saw a decline in popularity because of the arrival, from Europe, of lager. It’s back in demand now with a wide variety of craft brewers bringing some interesting beers with real character and a whole variety of flavours to market. Brew Dog’s stout, Black Heart, is Tesco’s most popular after Guinness. In the UK, Guinness is becoming the best-selling beer in both the on-trade (bars and pubs) and off-trade (retail) markets. You can even enjoy the quality of a pub-drawn pint at home now with the Nitrosurge device launched by Guinness. The innovative technology allows you to pour the perfect pint at home when used with Nitrosurge cans. What’s next in this competitive market? #ukbeerindustry #craftbeer

Athletic Brewing Co. worth $800M? 5 years ago, non alcoholic beers weren't really a thing. Maybe your Uncle would bring a few mid strength beers to a weekend bbq because he had to drive home. But non alcoholic beers definitely weren't mainstream! With a recent $50M raise, Athletic Brewing took their valuation to $800m to fuel increased production and retail expansion. The non alcoholic drink market has exploded as consumers are a lot more health conscious. Still wanting to have a drink and fun, but not wanting any of the negative side effects. Athletic Brewing have tapped into this change in consumer trends and riding the recent growth. How long will it take until non alcoholic beer will start to take some serious market share off the big dogs? Where do you think the non alcoholic beverage market goes next? #AthleticBrewing #NonAlcoholic #Beer #Marketing

Good report of what's going on with the UK beer market this year. SIBA members are reporting beer production volumes up +14% since last year, overtaking pre-pandemic levels for the first time. And 55% of beer consumers now drink local craft beer, up from 47% who said they drank it in our 2023 YouGov poll. This puts it level with the 55% who drink global lager. Here's the full report 2024:

When temperatures rise, it's beer slushies to the rescue. Frozen beer—or beer designed to mimic the flavors of popsicles—is a way for brands to lean into new flavor experiences in uniquely identifiable ways, both on- and off-premise. The number of brands tracked on Untappd and sold in retail shows this may be a niche, but useful, space to make incremental sales. "It makes craft beer seem more fun and approachable again," says Chris Creech, The Glass Jug Beer Lab's co-owner and director of brewing operations. "We don’t have a liquor license, so we can’t serve cocktails or mixed drinks with spirits, but we can make these kinds of beer cocktails." Dive in for more on how the beer slushie crosses on- and off-premise lines, and what Untappd data indicates about this niche: https://lnkd.in/gpNuE9cC
