“The best education in film is to make one.” - Stanley Kubrick So far, my Brand Management Partnership at the S.E.A Aquarium in Resorts World Sentosa has gone beyond my expectations making me both more excited and committed to working in the film industry sometime in the near future. Recently, I was given the opportunity to serve as a cinematographer for a series where my team interviewed guests on their knowledge about marine species. This episode focused on sea jellies, and I left learning two important lessons. First being that the term “jellyfish” is incorrect because these animals are actually invertebrates, and second to not overestimate how hard it is to learn a new skill. Usually, I use tripods (three-legged stands) to balance camera shots, but instead I was given a monopod (one-legged stand) which I never used before. Initially, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get the hang of the equipment quickly enough, but ironically it was the complete opposite. Lesson learned: Stop worrying too much. Can’t wait for the next film shoot and get the chance to initiate my own ideas into full-length projects for the aquarium’s social media pages. #SASQuest #aquarium #partnership #communications #brandmanagement

In the vibrant world of the reef, even the smallest fish show us the power of unity. Grazers, often chased away by territorial damselfish, know that strength lies in numbers. By teaming up and forming schools, they not only gain safety from predators but also overcome territorial challenges through sheer cooperation. This remarkable behavior, known as group feeding, allows them to thrive in an environment where survival requires collaboration. Other grazers are drawn to this collective strength, joining the school to enjoy protection and share in the opportunity to feed, even in areas dominated by aggressive fish. To stay safe, they adapt—blending into the group by mimicking the colors, patterns, and movements of the schooling fish. This fascinating behavior, called social mimicry, reminds us that sometimes, the key to success is not just in standing out, but in harmonizing with the world around us. 🐠🌊 #fishbehaviour #marinelife #animalbehaviour #underwaterfilm #underwatervideo #underwatercinema #underwaterphoto #liquidmotion UNDERWATER PHOTO & FILM SCHOOL https://lnkd.in/gWCbMEkn

Pleased to share my latest cinematic short film, inspired by the unique beauty of the Karlskrona archipelago in Sweden.. a natural wonder and a home to over 1,650 islands, ranging from rugged outcrops of granite to green inhabited isles. What’s fascinating is how communities have embraced the challenges of this fragmented geography and created a culture that’s in tune with the archipelago's natural rhythms. Karlskrona is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, reflecting this connection between nature, culture, and sustainable living. Many islands in this region are uninhabited, creating microhabitats that support rare species of flora and fauna. The geology of the islands features Precambrian rock, some of the oldest on Earth. I wanted to create an audiovisual narrative that would capture the archipelago's isolation, connection, and rhythmic flow. I used a combination of astrophotography, timelapses, and footage from the air, land, and sea. The film ends with a thought: "An archipelago embodies the essence of plurality, as every island’s uniqueness strengthens the unity of the whole." For a better viewing experience, watch it in 4K with headphones: https://lnkd.in/eE4he-wt Special thanks to Marie Björck for her support in making this film and Henrik JP Åkesson Ruben and Anton Johansson for their creative energy #Karlskrona, #Sweden #Archipelago, #Sustainability, #Biodiversity, #Ecology, #NatureConservation, #TimelapsePhotography, #Astrophotography, #AerialCinematography, #ShortFilm, #Environment, #Geology #Sea, #IslandLife, #Nature, #CulturalHeritage, #VisualStorytelling, #Coast, #EnvironmentalAwareness #Biodiversity Blekinge Institute of Technology Blue Science Park Karlskrona kommun #UNESCOWorldHeritage

American Cinematographer Magazine's Iain Marcks explores how cinematographer Mitchell Long and biologist Forrest Galante use industrial camera technology innovatively in Shark Week documentaries from Hot Snakes Media. They adapt equipment like a GoPro-fitted woodpecker decoy and advanced BRUV systems, enabling unique wildlife footage while promoting conservation through engaging narratives. Their work exemplifies how repurposing technology can overcome funding shortages in wildlife science, enhancing both public engagement and scientific research. 📣 Dina White SMITHHOUSE #SharkWeek #WildlifeConservation #DocumentaryFilmmaking #InnovativeTech #MarineBiology #EnvironmentalScience #ConservationTechnology #WildlifePhotography #SustainableSolutions #TechForGood #PublicRelations #MediaCoverage #EntertainmentNews #EntertainmentIndustry #PRAgency #ClientSuccess #PRStrategy
