The SPE Business Development Group had a first ever Tech/AI panel this week. This was a smaller event with more audience engagement than usual. Moderator Glenn Klimchuk set the stage by discussing #AI trends. We were impressed with the technical depth of Nefeli Moridis, Ph.D. (NVIDIA), who, along with Enfinite and Pariveda provided specific sector use case examples . She also discussed the power demands of LLMs. Rounding out the panel were CSL Ventures and MOIC Partners who discussed energy tech startups that they have invested in and specific challenges around adoption. A lot of "physics based AI" was brought up (a topic AlphaX Decision Sciences has a lot of experience with but too long to explain here), #AIexplainability, #AIgovernance, and of course, #data #data #data. Perhaps equally interesting was the self-selection of those who chose to come to a talk which, in many cases, was well out of their current day to day work - which we think is #fantastic. We say for those still in angst about adopting #AI read the previous post. #SPE peoples, have a great summer!
