Kris Kramer-Walter and Brydie Craven from our Te Puke research site on their research into starch storage in kiwifruit canes. By better understanding starch storage dynamics, we hope to be able to compare different cane types across cultivars and link these to differences in floral productivity. In the future, this will provide growers the ability to selectively identify replacement canes for the following year that will ultimately produce higher yielding vines. #plantandfood #smartgreenfuturetogether

It's shake time in Israel. Grower's in Kibbutz Ein-Harod have started shaking the first plots in their almond orchard, as captured by our own Ynon Nevo. Phytech's dendrometers (tree-sensors) help growers optimize this important stage by avoiding trunk barking (usually because of excessive moisture in the tree) and also ensuring uniform drying before the shake. Check out our upcoming #almondbeat report for a comprehensive review of Phytech's pre-shake Drying protocols

The conversation covers key developments in global blueberry production, especially in Peru, and discusses the role of new genetics in addressing growers’ challenges. Cronquist and Brazelton also share their perspectives on what’s ahead for blueberry production, the potential of automation in harvesting, and the importance of industry collaboration to drive consumer demand and category segmentation. “The next phase for our industry is category segmentation, and my hope is that we can do a better job in service to our customers in empowering that. We hope that everyone does that. We would love to see our competitors do that. We have an opportunity to make the pie bigger.” – Cort Brazelton #GoBlueberries #InspiringPossibilities #TheBusinessofBlueberriesPodcast #Blueberries https://lnkd.in/g2fiFFhw

Some pleasing results in NQ coming from a foundation of measurement and data. After soil testing was conducted the biggest change we made to this farm was not introducing biology. It was simplifying their nutrition strategy to keep it simple. The grower now applies nutrients and biologicals on time and the results show. If its not simple and repeatable, then it's not a solution. #simplesolutions #measuremeasuremeasure #dataisking #takingthebsoutofbiology
Paul is in NQ this week and inspecting these second year BioPlan chillies. To date there is an average of over 100 fruit per plant which is up 22.4% from last year, which is one of the best performing farms in the group. There is also an increase in 1st grade percentage and decrease in second grade percentage. We will be keeping a record of final numbers throughout the season. #measuremeasuremeasure #bioplan
