BENGALURU: The 27th edition of the Bengaluru #Tech Summit concluded on Thursday, featuring discussions by various prominent figures on a range of topics. Notably, for the first time in its 27-year history, the summit included a dedicated track for Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM). Ashok Chandak, President of the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), told TNIE, “IESA has been collaborating closely with the Karnataka government and has played a role in every ESDM decision made by the government. This year marks the first time we’ve had a dedicated track for ESDM. IESA contributed to shaping the program, including the selection of speakers, topics, and themes. Currently, semiconductor manufacturing in Karnataka is limited, but with an increasing number of startups entering semiconductor design, we anticipate that the design ecosystem will be leveraged and strengthened in the near future.” Chandak also highlighted the growing demand in the semiconductor market, stating, “We expect the market to reach $35-40 billion this year. According to IESA’s analysis and research, which tracks various segments, sectors, products, and companies, we foresee a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 20%, projecting that the market will surpass $100 billion by 2030. However, much of this market will rely on imports. As electronics manufacturing increasingly depends on semiconductors, the market is poised for significant growth. #IESA #Manufacturingnews #techsummit #technews #esdm #dailyupdates #manufacturingupdates #piindia #efficientmanufacturing

Dr. Ekroop Caur emphasized that the primary goal of the Tech Yatra was to showcase the developments happening in Mysuru. She noted that this was also a request from companies and industries in the region. The government has made a conscious decision to support companies in the Beyond Bengaluru clusters, recognizing Mysuru's great potential that needs to be highlighted to the world. Dr. Caur mentioned that Mysuru already has a well-developed semiconductor ecosystem. The upcoming EMC cluster will provide a significant opportunity for companies to explore and establish their operations in Mysuru. She stressed the importance of having an anchor industry or industries, which can pave the way for others to set up in the region. Additionally, she pointed out that the incentives for zones in regions beyond the Bengaluru area are much more lucrative for both startups and existing industries compared to those in Bengaluru.
