RUN….RUN….RUN…. Stay as far away from this LA as you physically can until they address the serious failings in the children’s services department of Herefordshire council that go right to the very top!! The ‘professionals’ (I use that word loosely) higher up are selfish, egotistical and manipulative! even after accepting a mountain of failings imposed on a family they continue to make sure everything fits the narrative and agenda they have chosen so that they can continue to hide the severe magnitude of the failings and mess ups that have been and continue to be made. The children are sadly just collateral damage in their mission to hide the truth! They ignore court orders, court approved plans and abuse families that they are meant to support all while turning a blind eye to the abuse children are suffering while in their care! or they make a never ending list of excuses and reasons as to why they missed the abuse that was inflicted on the children while in placement!….There are a few SWs that are genuinely good at their job and are trying to make a difference to the failing and inadequate department within the council but they can only do so much when some of failings are happening because SWs come and go so quickly as they struggle to maintain steady staffing partly because SWs are being over worked, over stretched with extremely high case loads with not enough hours in a day to be able to adequately manage and safe guard all children in their case loads but also because serious failings are happening higher up the career ladder. Then sadly when mistakes are made, failings happen and there is evidence given to support those claims those higher up have no choice but to acknowledge and accept those claims BUT they then very quickly put the blame on the SWs that are on the ‘ground’ trying their best to do the job and working with the families which means they then are the ones that have to face the backlash from the families, those close to the families and the general public are lead to believe that the SWs are the ones to blame for the issues so they become the focus and targets of the frustration, pain and anger……but just like most things you have those that want to help and make the service better you have th other side of workers that don’t have the right intentions. For example one of the SWs in the children with disability team who is actively going behind parents backs encouraging family members to take restraining orders out on the parents even though they have had no contact with them in over 2.5years! Last time I checked if you’re having very minimal to no contact it’s not harassment? Or maybe I have it wrong which means the police officer I spoke to has it wrong as well.

A common question all of us in the senior living industry are asked is, "What got you into the industry?" I like to think I had a unique path, helping to start a silent disco company and being basically slapped in the face with senior living. Thank you, SeniorLivingMinute, for helping to share my story!

At Experience Senior Living, the Christmas spirit is all about creating joyful moments and embracing unique personalities. Where else can you find a resident in full curlers, sharing the day's news with a goat in her lap? This former actress knows how to steal the spotlight, and our salon-goat combo is the perfect backdrop for a holiday story worth telling! Here's to celebrating individuality, humor, and heart this season. Cynthia was disappointed about missing the baby goats because of her salon appointment, so we brought the goat to her instead. This delightful moment was more than just a cute photo opportunity. It was a reminder of why we do what we do in senior living: to create experiences that bring love, laughter, and connection to those we serve. Love: It’s in the small but meaningful gestures—a snuggle with a goat, a shared smile, or simply recognizing the vibrant, creative souls of our residents. Challenge: It’s our call to reimagine what senior living can be. Can we make it joyful, surprising, and deeply human? Yes. Every single day. This moment, captured in a simple photo, reflects the heart of senior living: it’s about building a community where love leads, leadership inspires, and challenges fuel innovation. How do you create meaningful moments in your community? Let’s share ideas and keep raising the bar together. #ElevateThis #SeniorLiving #LoveLeadershipChallenge #OnlyatESL Experience Senior Living

Today, we are highlighting Amaya Barrios, Assistant Manager at Magnolia Terrace for #HispanicHeritageMonth ✨What does your heritage mean to you, and how has it shaped your personal or professional life? Hispanic heritage is everything for me. It is a reflection of what my family stands for and what I believe in. It's community, pride, unity, and strength and ultimately, it’s what has led me to be the best version of myself both at home and at work. ✨What aspects of your culture are you most proud of, and how do you incorporate them into your daily life or work? Aspects of my culture that I am most proud of include family traditions, cultural traditions, resilience, creativity, and hard work. By integrating these aspects into daily personal and professional routines, I feel as though I can enrich my life and contribute positively to my environment, embracing my heritage while making meaningful impacts. ✨What advice would you give to the next generation of Hispanic professionals? Embrace your identity, pursue continuous learning, and build a strong network of mentors, peers, and industry leaders. Always seek out and create opportunities to learn and grow - do not wait for opportunities to come to you, be prepared to advocate for your own achievements and ambitions while also supporting and uplifting others around you, and strive for a healthy balance between work and personal life. By staying true to your values, continuously developing your skills, and actively engaging with your community, you can make a meaningful impact in your professional life and beyond.

I escaped the confines of outdated senior living practices years ago. My secret sauce is a deep understanding of what truly matters: individualized care that meets each resident's unique needs. I DON’T: Want to settle for cookie-cutter solutions in our senior living communities. Want to burden our caregivers with endless paperwork. Want to create environments where residents feel isolated. I DO: Want to champion personalized care plans that reflect individuality. Want to implement centralized software that enhances efficiency and communication. Want to build connections that make everyone feel like they belong in our communities. Reflecting on what I truly want in my career has transformed my approach to senior living. It has led me down a path of intentionality, where every decision prioritizes the well-being of our residents and the dedication of our staff. Are you sticking with tradition? Or are you embracing personalized care?
