For our final application highlight and our Halloween special, we are going to be looking at the O2 and H2 Duo tracer in the Hydrogen economy! There is nothing particularly spooky about this highlight but the Hydrogen economy is a very new and mysterious industry for all of us. 🕵️ There are many processes in the upcoming Hydrogen energy sector that use or emit both O2 and H2 gas. And as we know, O2 enrichment can cause flammable gases, like H2, to become even more explosive and dangerous. 💥 Therefore it is important to implement effective detection such as the Duo tracer! As always, check out our blog in the comments below 👇, and thank you for following along with this short series 😁 #hydrogen #gassafety #hydrogenenergy

What role does hydrogen have in the energy mix as we aim for Net Zero? What scale of hydrogen storage is needed, and what technologies will help deliver this? What pore-scale interactions do we need to consider during multiple cycles of injecting and recovering hydrogen from a porous reservoir? What are the controls on hydrogen trapping and recovery? If you are interested in the answers to these questions and others, please join as at 12.30 (BST) on 21st May for the next in our Net Zero webinar series, where Katriona Edlmann from The University of Edinburgh will address these topics. The event is open to non SPE members but please register via the Ticket Source link https://lnkd.in/dx6Hf89T #energytransition #netzero #hydrogen #spe

Much has been made about the role of hydrogen in the energy transition and where exactly it fits into the spectrum of potential possibilities we have for decarbonising. In this first blog in a 3-part series, we quickly introduce what hydrogen is, the different types of hydrogen and how they are produced, the current use cases for hydrogen and the challenges we face in using hydrogen for decarbonisation. Unlocking the Full Potential of Hydrogen Storage 🔑 As the world shifts towards clean energy, hydrogen is emerging as a promising solution. But storing hydrogen poses challenges. That's where underground hydrogen storage (UHS) comes in! One crucial aspect of UHS is the selection of the right "cushion gas". This gas acts as a buffer, regulating the pressure in the storage reservoir for safe and efficient hydrogen injection and withdrawal. Our latest Encyclopedia entry explores the different cushion gas options - including nitrogen, methane, and CO2 - and their advantages, limitations, and practical considerations. Optimizing cushion gas is key to unlocking the full potential of hydrogen as a sustainable energy carrier. Learn more about this critical component of UHS technology 👇 https://lnkd.in/gJRSB4vY #hydrogen #cleanenergy #underggroundstorage #cushiongas #sustainability
