📢DSO Entity’s #KnowledgeSharingforGrids series     Across the EU, the energy sector is going through a massive transformation that requires an increase of skilled workers to bring the #energytransition to life.     In all Member States, #DSOs are reporting skill and staff shortages across all areas of their work streams, mainly caused by the increase of skilled staff needed to connect, manage and operate new decentralised capacity into the power network. New jobs will also be needed in areas such as renewables, cybersecurity, IT and digitalisation to ensure the achievement of the EU’s energy targets. Pros and Cons of Real-Time Energy Data Access 🌟 The Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) recently published a consultation paper in response to a rule change request from Energy Consumers Australia (ECA), aiming to enhance consumer access to real-time energy data. The AEMC is exploring real-time access to energy data, which could mean updates every 5 minutes for households. Last week, The European Data Centre Association - EUDCA and CISPE welcomed representatives from the European Commission, national ministries, and trade associations to discuss the newly adopted EU reporting framework for #DataCentres. This framework, better known as the revised Energy Efficiency Directive (#EED) and its Delegated Act, took effect in May. The first reporting deadline is set for 15 September 2024. 🗣 During the roundtable, several challenges relating to the reporting were highlighted, including technically unmeasurable data points like data traffic which do not contribute to improving the sustainability of data centre operations. Colocation operators are concerned about accessing information on IT equipment and data they do not own, and potential cybersecurity risks from low-confidentiality disclosures.
