This analysis examines if generative AI tools like 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁 boost developer efficiency. Based on data from 𝟴𝟬𝟬 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀, it assessed 𝘤𝘰𝘥𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦, 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴, and 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘦. Copilot didn't significantly speed up coding but increased error rates. It did not help either to reduce developer exhaustion. The findings suggest 𝘊𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘺𝘦𝘵 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘦𝘯𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺, but ongoing monitoring and exploring specific use cases could maximize its benefits.
