When the conflict in #Ukraine reaches a stalemate, the #proliferation of advanced #military technology, including #drones, will likely benefit #organizedcrime networks. A recent case in #Spain highlights this risk: police dismantled a “narcodrone” network operating between #Spain and #Morocco. The drones, manufactured in Ukraine and capable of carrying 10 kg of hashish over 50 km, were used by criminal groups in Campo de Gibraltar and Costa del Sol. This underscores the need for #international #cooperation to prevent military-grade technology from being repurposed for #illegal #activities. Measures like stricter drone export controls, enhanced border security, and intelligence sharing will be critical to mitigating this growing threat.

With Drone/UAS technology advancing every day and their every growing use in warfare (including small UAS), it is just a matter of time before individuals take the lessons learned in war to deploy Drones/UAS in the United States to commit crimes of violence and even terrorism (domestic and foreign). With this being the case, Law Enforcement agencies must make sure they are up to date on Drone/UAS technology, Drone/UAS countermeasures, and anti-Drone/UAS technology. In addition to this awareness, Law Enforcement agencies must ensure that their operations plans for events address the Drone/UAS threat, proper responses are prepared, and necessary equipment is available. It is a new world and technology brings a host of new threats and danger. No Law Enforcement Agency wants to be the first to suffer a Drone/UAS swarm attack at an event (Art Festival, Concert, Sports Event, Film Festival, protests, demonstrations, etc.) and suffer casualties to attendees and their own Officers as well as the threat of damage to infrastructure. Our planning must truly be multi-dimensional now as the threats from air are more prevalent then ever. #officer #officers #police #policeofficer #cops #cop #lawenforcement #policedepartment #policechief #sheriff #deputy #publicsafety #officersafety #planning #drones #drone #uas #technology #terrorism #domesticterrorism #countermeasures #tactics #emergencymanagement International Association of Chiefs of Police Police Executive Research Forum Major Cities Chiefs Association TEEX - Law Enforcement and Protective Services FBI National Academy Associates, Inc. There is blanket media coverage on this drugs issue at HMP Garth in the UK today - https://lnkd.in/eA9RyTiH The challenge for prisons and CUAS suppliers are several: - Budgets are incredibly tight for plugging gaps, organised crime is way ahead of the game and have very capable drones and systems to deliver contraband to inmates. - The existing military-grade counter drones equipment in the market is designed to work with effectors in the battlefield. Hardware costs are exorbitant. Even if you have one of the military systems, they are too few to make a difference. - It is illegal to fire a jammer in the UK unless you are trained police or military. Collateral damage to all sorts of communications infrastructure is likely. - Many CUAS systems rely heavily on RF (Radio Frequency) detection, whereas the drone manufacturers are moving to 4G/5G guidance so spotting RF will be a challenge and cyber jacking will be less effective. This leaves cameras and radars as the top means of detection. - The best chance to find and stop the illegal activity is to find the operator, to get convictions. Or to track the drones in real time and use that intelligence inside and outside the prisons estates to combat the problem. #Drones #Prisons #drugs #HMPP #LabourGovernment #CUAS

🚔 How it feels to be on a law enforcement team before Sentrycs: Scrambling to manually track drones, unsure if it’s a rogue operator or a legitimate flight. The result? Wasted time, potential risks, and unnecessary confusion in high-stakes situations. After Sentrycs: The distinction between criminal or unauthorized drones and authorized law enforcement operations is automatic and precise. No guesswork, just total airspace control that allows officers to focus on their mission without distractions. See how we’re transforming sky patrol for law enforcement >> https://lnkd.in/g6AarJ7Z Let's keep the skies secure, together. #DroneSolutions #DroneSecurity #LawEnforcement #AirspaceControl #CUAS
