🌍 From “Blind” Flights to BVLOS Operations: A Century of Progress! 🌍 On September 24, 1929, the US' Jimmy Doolittle took the skies by storm, executing the world’s first "blind" flight, relying solely on instruments to take off, fly, and land. This bold achievement marked the dawn of modern aviation safety, proving that technology could guide pilots even when they couldn't see the horizon. Fast forward almost a century into the future, and we’re building on that legacy. At SLiNK-TECH we are pioneering PORTAL, an automated landing system for BVLOS drones—enabling safe, reliable flights beyond the operator's sight. Just as Doolittle showed that flight doesn’t require visual cues, we’re demonstrating that drones can safely navigate and land with precision even in challenging conditions. When an astronaut works outside the space station, there are tasks of delivering/moving equipment, tools or parts - the presence of drones for these tasks makes the work more flexible and efficient (less dependent on mistakes and unplanned situations). 🌫️🚀 AI4HyDrop Project Meeting in Toulouse. Advancing the Definition of Urban Airspace with AI. On 12 June, a meeting of the AI4HyDrop project took place at Sopra Steria's offices in Toulouse to discuss and advance several of the project's tasks and work packages. The meeting was very productive and significant progress was made on the definition of airspace, the use of wind and turbulence models in urban areas, the detection of drones flying in non-permitted areas, and the integration of the different services and models into a single integrated platform.
