Rapid urban development🏙 and industrialisation🏭 fragments the landscape into a mosaic of urban areas, road infrastructure, and plots of agricultural land. How does this fragmentation affect soil health?🌱 Learn about the impact of fragmentation on soil health and how the BENCHMARKS project is addressing this issue in our latest blog post. 🔗tinyurl.com/36vxr3ne #UrbanSoils #SoilHealth #Fragmentation #BENCHMARKS

Before the earthwork even ensues, many of our projects must first begin with the clearing of the land that is to be worked. One of the most efficient and environmentally-friendly ways to clear an area of trees, underbrush, and other vegetation is the method of mulching. Mulching effectively grinds selected vegetation up without damaging surrounding areas. The layer of mulched vegetation that is left then improves soil structure and fertility as it decomposes and enriches the soil with nutrients. For more details on mulching and its benefits, visit the Services tab of our website! https://lnkd.in/eEnpMYe (Pictured here is an area that we mulched in preparation for the construction of a pad site.) #cenizoservices #mulching #clearing

🌍 Understanding the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) 🌱 Soil erosion is a critical environmental issue that affects agricultural productivity, water quality, and ecosystem health. The Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) is a key tool used by scientists and land managers to estimate soil erosion and develop strategies for soil conservation. Key Factors of USLE: Rainfall and Runoff (R): The impact of raindrop impact and surface runoff. Soil Erodibility (K): The susceptibility of soil particles to erosion. Slope Length and Steepness (LS): The influence of topography on erosion. Crop and Vegetation Cover (C): The protective effect of plant cover. Conservation Practices (P): The effectiveness of soil conservation measures. By understanding and applying USLE, we can better manage our natural resources and ensure sustainable land use practices. 🌱 Let's work together to protect our soil! 🌍 #USLE #Arcgis #Qgis
