The Department of Energy (DOE) has finalized a rule that forces manufacturers to sell only furnaces that convert at least 95% of fuel into heat. NFIB will consider S.J. Res. 58, the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to repeal the DOE final rule on gas furnace efficiency standards, as an #NFIB Key Vote for the 118th Congress. "The revised rule [Order 1920-A] requires transmission providers to include state input about how future scenarios used in long-term regional transmission planning will be developed....FERC also required transmission providers to include any state-agreed cost allocation proposals in their compliance plans, even if the transmission provider is proposing their own cost allocation method. The task of calculating the potential costs and benefits of new transmission vary widely by region, and the method chosen plays an important role in determining which facilities get built. E3 recently supported the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) in developing a congestion cost savings test fit for the ERCOT market. Here's our statement: "We commend the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for rejecting this anti-consumer proposal by PJM and the Transmission Owners, which would have given large corporations with a profit motive far too much power and secrecy in transmission planning....We’re glad FERC saw through PJM and the Transmission Owners’ power grab."
