Here’s a quick highlight of my favorite features: 🔍 Enhanced Search & Discovery Merchants can now fine-tune how parent and child products appear in storefront search and recommendations, making it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for. Plus, with the ability to customize category metafields and create smart collections, organizing and showcasing products has never been more intuitive. 🛍️ POS Improvements Shopify has added location-aware filters to its POS, helping merchants better segment customers based on where they shop. Customer metafields are also now available in POS, giving staff more insights to deliver a personalized and seamless checkout experience. 🤝 B2B Enhancements Wholesale operations just got a whole lot easier. How did you like Shopify Editions, Winter ‘25, did you buy the t-shirt? (More importantly, did you click “not boring”?) Our team ran through the updates together, and here are some of the things that grabbed our attention. 🛒 Markets Rolling Out Soon The new Markets functionality has been the most requested feature by our clients this year. For any merchants running two or more stores in order to display the same catalog for different regions, this will be a game changer. After Shopify teased this functionality at Editions.dev in the summer, “rolling out soon” can’t come soon enough. 🛒 Filter by Category Metafields Along with the lack of support for variant metafields, the inability to filter by category has been a pain point that we’ve had to build workarounds for in the past. Although Search & Discovery is still not a great option for filtering large collections, it’s good to see these improvements to the app. 🧾 Split Shipping This is an interesting addition for businesses with multiple fulfillment locations and/or shipping profiles, and being able to select shipping methods per item is pretty cool. Watch out, Amazon! 📢 Customer Account Extensions We’ve built a lot of checkout extensions, so we’re looking forward to kicking off our first account extensions project imminently. For now, account extensions are using the same branding API and UI elements as checkout, and the colour scheme chosen for checkout is also applied to accounts. 🚛 Better Draft Orders for B2B This was also included under the “Checkout” heading, but seems especially important for B2B. For businesses that rely heavily on phone sales, or whose orders require a lot of sales support to configure, being able to run the same extensions for draft orders as those found in checkout is a great addition for a more unified customer experience. 💻 Theme Blocks Now Live Somewhere between sections and snippets, theme blocks will be interesting to play around with, but they do kind of seem like a solution looking for a problem. So far it is hard to think of many use cases where you would save time or reduce complexity by using them over existing tools. The utilization of dynamic sources and the concept of “closest resource” is interesting, but not being able to mix them with existing blocks in a section is a drawback. Could enabling nesting of sections, or adding schemas within snippets have achieved similar results? 📈 New Analytics Rolling Out After Shopify deprecated Report and Analytics APIs that many merchants had built custom solutions around, the only remaining option was to use the raw Orders GraphQL API to manually generate reports. Now merchants will have an easy way to query their data from the admin, great news for data-driven brands. We hope you found this rundown useful! Among the recent Winter Edition 2025 updates, the improvements to the Bundle Feature truly stand out. I’ve always believed that bundles are one of the most impactful tools to increase Average Order Value (AOV), and these updates take the feature to a whole new level. Here’s my perspective on how these updates can benefit merchants and experts alike from 11th December, 2024. 1️⃣ Product Bundle Inventory Update Merchants using Managed Markets and fulfillable inventory can now show buyers whether bundles are in stock by location. This ensures accurate information is displayed on the PDP, allowing customers to make informed purchasing decisions and enhancing satisfaction. 2️⃣ More Consistent Representation of Bundles Shopify has enhanced how bundles and their components are displayed, offering a more consistent and organized experience across emails, the Orders Detail Page, and the Abandoned Checkout section. This clarity improves the overall buyer experience. 3️⃣ Product Bundle Reporting in Shopify Analytics New reports on product bundle performance now give merchants insights into total sales by bundle and bundle components. These analytics enable smarter, data-driven decisions to optimize bundle strategies. From my perspective, these updates will directly help merchants by improving the way they create, manage, and analyze bundles, driving higher sales and better customer experiences.
