1,766 people were killed on UK roads in 2022. Colleagues from Serious Injury Law and Fletchers Group are taking part in the #RoadPeaceChallenge2024 by walking, running, cycling or horse riding 1,766 miles over the course of this week to honour those 1,766 people and to make a united stand against road death and injury. Taking place during the United Nations Global Safety Week, we’ll all be counting down from 1,766 to zero – to reflect Vision Zero efforts - and raising money for RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims. A big thank you to everyone taking part in the challenge including Katie Rutter, Lydia Scales, Jayne Orme, Olivia Bownes, Lori Mulligan-Johnson, Mary Lomas, Polly H., Jennifer Argent and Kathryn Quinn. To help support their efforts, please donate here https://lnkd.in/gYtBpb-8. #1766milestogether #roadsafety #roadsafetyawareness #fundraising

𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐝 (𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬)? Our latest Just Roll With It event was a blast (and a totally righteous way to give back)! We helped a law firm ditch the suits and pick up some paint brushes for a skateboard building extravaganza. They not only created some awesome boards, but also donated them to a local skateboard charity for kids in need! Serve 360 activities are at the core of everything we do in the NextGen Marriott Business Councils. Here is a perfect example where we gathered to cook dinner for a charity that is taking care of homeless people in Split. #MarriottNextGen #Teamwork #Serve360 #DoingGoodInEveryDirection #TheExtraMile #Hungary #SoutheastEurope

Can you help Riley?
PLEASE DONATE - one day you and your family could be enjoying our great coastal beaches and waters and need the help of the RNLI. This young man has made an incredible effort to raise money for such a needed life saving charity. Whilst drinking your morning coffee take two minutes and drop a few quid in the virtual bucket. If all my contacts do this then we can really reward this young man for his great efforts! https://gofund.me/2eb6c990 #RNLI #SavingLivesAtSea #UKProperty #UKConstruction

On this International Day of Charity, we are reminded that acts of kindness extend far beyond donations and community service—they also encompass how we safeguard one another's well-being on the roads. Road safety is everyone's business, and through collective responsibility and awareness, we can save lives. Every time we drive responsibly, follow traffic rules, or show patience and respect for others on the road, we are committing an act of charity. It’s not only about protecting ourselves but ensuring the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and fellow drivers. By working together—governments, businesses, communities, and individuals—we can create safer roads for all. Let us honor this day by committing to road safety practices that prevent accidents and loss of life. Simple acts of compassion, such as offering a helping hand to someone in need on the roadside or advocating for better road infrastructure, can make a lasting impact. Just as charity brings hope to the most vulnerable, so too can road safety create a safer and more harmonious world for everyone. Together, let’s drive change and make our roads safer, one charitable action at a time. #InternationalDayOfCharity, #RoadSafetyForAll, #DriveSafe, #CharityBeginsOnTheRoad, #SafeRoadsSaveLives, #BeResponsible, #SafetyFirst, #RoadSafetyAwareness, #TogetherForSafety, #KindnessOnTheRoads

The Law Commission is consulting on changes to the Co-operative & Community Benefit Societies Act that could have a significant impact on RSLs, including that (for RSLs that fall under the act and are classed as "exempt" charities): - Q9: they will cease to be "exempt" charities and will be required to register with the Charity Commission; and - Q10: The lead regulator for charitable community benefits societies will be the Charity Commission. The consultation closes on the 10th of December - https://lnkd.in/eKHAWpVM A housing sector response to this is vital to ensure the great work these organisations undertake is not negatively affected with unintended consequences. #housing #consultation #RSLs

When the wishes of the VOCAL minority take over the well being of the Majority - we end up with dictatorship. Watch what happened with Bangla Desh and what will happen to United Kingdom. Dictatorship in a 'civilized/ democratic country can be simple as two tier policing. The same happens in a business when we start catering for ALL minorities - we end up with a lower standard. The basic rule in business is survival of the fittest. The businesses are not there as a charity - although charities are a business - so if you are of a 'special group' then set up a business for that group and be a success: BUT don't expect ALL businesses to cater for you.

Why fundraising through challenge events like the London Marathon is so important for charities I get it: when you’re forever being asked to sponsor someone for a challenge to raise money for their chosen charity, it can become tiresome, especially when you might be wondering ‘what difference will my donation really make?’ Well, the specifics of whichever charity you’re giving to aside, I’m here to explain one overarching reason that your contribution DOES make a difference, whoever you’re donating to. In the world of charity fundraising, we operate on two planes: restricted income (‘UI’) and unrestricted income (‘RI’). Often, a substantial proportion of funds raised are RI: the organisation may have been specifically contracted to deliver a particular service with set objectives and performance targets, or a philanthropic donation may have been given on the condition that the money be spent on a particular project or service. Whilst RI is crucial (it forms the bulk of income for many charities; we couldn’t operate without it!), UI – which is rarer – can be used in the way the charity sees fit to deliver maximum impact, and is thus seen as gold in the world of fundraising. For an organisation like The Children’s Society, UI will be vital in achieving our ambitious goal to overturn the damaging decline in children & young people’s wellbeing by 2030. UI allows the charity to invest in the work we know will have the biggest impact, most notably growing our pioneering offer of open-access wellbeing hubs for young people. It takes a whole range of income streams to make a charity run well, but without UI we simply cannot do our best work. The donations you make to anybody’s fundraising pages contribute directly to that, so you can be assured your money will make a splash, even if it does just feel like a drop in the ocean. In case you didn’t know, I’m taking on a whole range of endurance challenges this year to raise money for The Children’s Society – and the London Marathon is just the start! Please donate if you can, and share this post so more people get to know the impact they make by sponsoring friends, family and colleagues for charity events! https://lnkd.in/eSn_nqJ9 #charity #fundraising #LM24 #LondonMarathon
