If you’re trying to drive change, you need all parts of this equation. Many broadband providers are great at strategy OR great at execution. Real, intentional progress takes both done in coordination. Whether it’s your operations, go-to-market, or competitive position, you have to be intentional to get to your desired end state as efficiently as possible. You don’t achieve goals accidentally. #broadband #ruralconnectivity #sethtalks

As a broadband operator, now more than ever you need to be concerned with scale. How do you take the services you’re offering and offer it to more people, faster, with the same (or better) level of support? You HAVE to have to build your operation on a platform that simplifies building, operating, and growing your footprint. Piece-mealing together a network from nine different “partners” is not a manageable way to grow. If you want to grow, seek simplicity and centralization. #broadband #ruralbroadband #sethtalks

Transformational change is hard. It’s not something you just say you’re going to do and three months later you’re there. It takes time, intentional effort, a plan, and accountability to execute well. Many broadband providers are going through this right now. Do not get discouraged. Work with the right partners, the right employees, bring on new ones if you have to, and build a plan you can break down to baby steps to start executing. #broadband #fiber #sethtalks

From my own observations, the thing that separates GREAT broadband service providers from good ones is a well executed go-to-market and marketing strategy. Most everyone (especially fiber providers) are building solid networks now. But the ones who know how to build compelling offers, position it well to potential subscribers, and continually engage their subscribers and community alike are the ones that really crush it. The ones with 60%+ penetration. The ones with raving fans that brag about their BSP, not just customers. The ones that drive profitable growth year after year to fund their new builds. I'm telling you, that's the difference. #broadband #fiber #sethtalks

Three things that kill a broadband service providers ability to scale and grow: - Lack of standardization (on processes, technology, packages, etc.) - Lack of internal alignment. When everyone isn't rowing in the same direction at the same speed things fall apart quick. - Poor marketing/go-to-market. You can build the best network in the world, but if no one knows about it, or knows why YOU are different as a BSP, you won't have any customers. All three seem simple, but they plague a majority of BSPs trying to grow at a fast pace. #broadband #fiber #sethtalks

We're moving in the right direction by acknowledging that 25/3 Mbps falls short of true high-speed broadband. While 100/20 Mbps brings a smile to my face, the prospect of symmetrical speeds would delight me. I'm optimistic that we're progressing towards recognizing 100/100 Mbps as THE MINIMUM standard. Let's just hope it doesn't take nearly a decade to get there this time! #internetforall #highspeedbroadband #broadband #Broadbandforall
