We talk so much about learning and development together, but have you ever stopped to think of them as separate practices? Let's take a moment to consider what each of them means and how they work together in helping employees grow and succeed. 🔸Learning What is it? Acquiring knowledge, skills, behaviors, and attitudes that lead to improved job performance. How do we do it? There are so many ways to learn. Some of our favorites are industry seminars, conferences and events, hands-on experimentation, reading articles, and good old fashion collaboration with your colleagues. 🔸Development What is it? The broadening and deepening of knowledge in line with one’s individual long-term professional goals. It aims to grow job-related abilities to expand one’s potential for new opportunities in the future. How do we do it? It depends on your field, but some popular options include leadership training, mentoring, coaching, and job shadowing. . How do you manage both areas in your organization? Do you treat them separately or combine them together?
