Conservative enclaves quit California's oldest city alliance: Recent developments have surfaced in California’s local political landscape. A group of Southern California cities with conservative-leaning city councils have chosen to exit the League of California Cities. Citing differences over policy issues, cities like Newport Beach and Yorba Linda are parting from this 126-year-old coalition which aims to unite municipal voices in the state's political arena. The departure signifies a shift in the dynamic of local government unity, reflecting the growing polarization in political climates. While some argue that operating within the organization is more effective for policy influence, others feel the need to seek representation that aligns more closely with local interests. This move points to a changing strategy amongst cities to advocate for their communities in the complex fabric of California politics. Read more:

Congratulations to Honorable. Don Stewart on your historical win in Toronto St Paul's this week. It is a historical win for the Conservative Party of Canada 🇨🇦 in order to axe the carbon tax 🪓 , build more affordable housing in Canada 🏠, fix the Federal Budget 💲, stop crimes in Canada 🚔, introduce new tough and strict criminal laws in Canada against crimes and criminals to get jail times without bails. We need to reform the Canadian economy in order to grow more Canadian food and agricultural products in order for Canada to become a self-sufficient country in Food and Agricultural Products, increasing the production of Canadian Oil 🛢 and Natural Gas ⛽️ in order for Canada to become a self-sufficient country in Energy, increasing our manufacturing production in order for Canada to become a self-sufficient country in manufacturing products & Goods and export Canadian made products to many countries worldwide 🌐. 💙 💙 💙
Thank you, Toronto — St. Paul's! I am beyond humbled for the trust you have put in me and I will never take it for granted. I promise to be YOUR voice on Parliament Hill.

We have a couple of spots left if you would still like to register! April 18: Citizen Assemblies- Reinvigorating Civic Engagement Note: This is a morning forum, 8:30am. Join us for a discussion that will open up the idea of citizen involvement in local decision-making. Increasingly people on all sides of the political spectrum (including those unengaged) feel left out of how decisions are made. A Citizens’ Assembly is a group of people selected by lottery who are broadly representative of a community. They spend significant time learning and collaborating through facilitated deliberation to find common ground and form collective recommendations for policymakers, decision-makers, and the community. These Assemblies are sometimes called Citizens’ Juries, Panels, or Councils depending on their size and the country where they are taking place. We will discuss how this model works internationally and how it is currently being used right here in Central Oregon. More info: https://lnkd.in/gSYnjqRi

It’s been a big year for higher ed in Texas. The state’s colleges are at the center of many high-profile conversations about policy and politics — including the banning of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs on campuses and intensifying debates over free speech. At the same time, people across the country are losing faith in their colleges. That's particularly true among Republicans — and it's a dynamic that governors like Greg Abbott are tapping into. What should colleges be doing to regain the public's trust? What would it take to lessen the partisan divide? How can higher ed in Texas get its mojo back? I'll be talking about these issues tomorrow, 9/6, at #TribFest24 with Amy Bosley, Tedd Mitchell, & Harrison Keller. Come join us at 1 p.m. Central. https://trib.it/sBHbuK

On June 14th, I had the privilege of representing ACT | The App Association while joining the Black Legislative Leaders Network’s (BLLN) historic delegation to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to ring the opening bell in commemoration of Juneteenth. This occasion at the NYSE spotlighted the persistent economic disparities that still plague our society. And, in the tech community, we must acknowledge that BIPOC founders are drastically underfunded and experience heightened barriers of entry when it comes to accessing capital through both traditional and non-traditional sources. ACT | The App Association remains deeply committed to increasing access to capital and collaborating with legislators nationwide and globally to promote capital investments and innovation. It was an honor to share this once-in-a lifetime experience with a distinguished group of leaders including: 💫 State Representative Karen Camper, Minority Leader, Tennessee House of Representatives and Co-Founder of BLLN 💫 State Senator Tonya P. Anderson, MBA, MDiv (GA), President of the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women (NOBEL-Women) 💫 State Representative Marcus C. Evans, Jr. (IL), Vice President of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) 💫 State Representative Laura Hall (AL), President of the NATIONAL BLACK CAUCUS OF STATE LEGISLATORS (NBCSL) 💫 State Delegate Jheanelle K. Wilkins (MD), Chair of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland; a d 💫 State Delegate Candi Mundon King (VA), Chair of the Counties, Cities, and Towns Committee, and Chair of Finance - Subcommittee #1 in the Virginia House of Delegates Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, with a special thank you to Tara Dziedzic, Jasper Hendricks, III, and Rob Eskridge. #Juneteenth #BlackLegislativeLeadersNetwork #NYSE #EconomicEquity #RacialJustice #BlackRepresentation #Founders #DigitalEconomy #AccessToCapital #Founders #Venture
