🐓I don’t miss the roosters. 🐓 In today’s All Hands meeting we celebrated 20 colleagues who have been part of the VisionSpring journey for 5, 7 and 10+ years. Their tenacity, integrity and smarts have molded us into the dynamic, purpose-first team we are today—now more than 425 strong! Coming into this All Hands meeting, I was reflecting on what our All Hands felt like 9 years ago when we first started them. 🐓 We didn’t afford ourselves a video platform with mic control so the remarks were constantly interrupted by roosters and horns beeping. 🔆 We could cover most of our organizational activity in the agenda. Now we curate select highlights - wins and worries. 🎉 We were celebrating welcomes and just a handful of 3-year work anniversaries. Now we’ve got so many committed colleagues, we start at 5 years and need a reel! A lot has changed. But the spirit of connectedness across time, space, language and cultures is stronger than ever…as evidenced in our chat! As we head into Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for the unique contributions and perspectives of my colleagues. You have propelled us to screen the vision of more than 2.8 million people and correct the vision of more than 2 million people this year alone. This month, our office hit a significant milestone: three wonderful years of creativity, collaboration, and success. It’s been a journey filled with hard work, laughs, and growth—both individually and as a team. And what better way to celebrate than with a grand event that brought everyone together for an unforgettable day? A Time to Celebrate Accomplishments 🏆 For me, this celebration held a special place as I was honored with an award for completing two remarkable years at YR Media. It was a moment to pause and reflect on the challenges overcome, the skills honed, and the friendships forged over these two years. Receiving this award reminded me how rewarding it is to be part of a team that values dedication and passion. But the highlight of the evening? Taking home a funny award titled "The Slow-Mo Rider." While it earned plenty of laughs and good-natured teasing, it also added an extra layer of joy to the occasion. Who knew that my unhurried approach in some situations would become an office legend? Highlights of the Day 🌟 The event wasn’t just about awards—it was a full-blown celebration of our journey together. From delicious food and creative decorations to games and heartfelt speeches, the atmosphere was charged with energy. Everyone came together to reminisce about the ups and downs, share hilarious anecdotes, and celebrate how far we’ve come. Looking Ahead 🚀 The three-year milestone isn’t just a marker of time—it’s a reminder of our shared goals and ambitions. “Take care of your people and they will take care of you.” One of my goals this year is to become a better leader / manager. I’m often lost in my thoughts, focused on whatever challenge in front of me. Makes me disconnected from the team at times, no bueno. Things like HR, doing a catch up lunch / coffee, remembering birthdays, are all about as foreign to me as packing my suitcase a week in advance for a trip. My approach so far: - READ once a week the list of all the people that are an integral part of our team (whether internal team, supplier, remote, doesn’t matter). - TELL everyone that I want to get better and to tell me if there’s birthdays or opportunities to highlight someone’s work. - TRACK when’s the last time I caught up (coffee, call, quick walk, lunch, dinner) with each person and stay high level (how’s it going, life outside work, vision) - SHARE whatever I’m up to, my latest ideas, prospective deals, thoughts. I was a bit shy about this one at first (what if the deal doesn’t close), but I’m getting used to it slowly. Result ? There’s been more team dinners, lunches, check ins, than ever before. Everyone seems more motivated too (my impression). And so, here’s a pic of Oscar, Teresa and Cesar, part of an on-site team (maintenance / cleaning) that threw a little surprise lunch for Stephane’s 60th birthday. 🎂💃 **Full disclosure - I got tipped off early that morning it was Steph’s birthday & I let my favorite Mexican colleagues channel their inner Martha Stewart put this together. You know what they say: Nothing brings in a new decade like some Subway, Lays and Strawberry cake.🙏** It’s a start right ?
