Is the GP monopoly coming to an end due to workforce shortages? I see a concerning trend where health insurance companies may exploit loopholes to circumvent general practitioners. This could lead to insurers directly influencing the relationship between specialists and vulnerable or profit-driven allied health professionals. In your lifetime, the hope that government-mandated data interoperability will resolve these issues is likely misplaced. Many patients and practitioners do not like sharing their health data with governments unless they are financially blackmailed. If it were a viable solution, indeed, some administration in the world would have successfully implemented it by now. This will do more harm than good.
