Recently, at DataTale, we were #hiring #PowerBI developers to join our team. With numerous applicants, I typically initiate the conversation with these fundamental questions: 1. Walk us through a Power BI project you've worked on. Objective: This question aims to gauge the candidate's hands-on experience with Power BI. I look for insights into their approach to gathering requirements, designing the data model, crafting visualizations, and effectively communicating insights. 2. How do you ensure optimal performance when dealing with large datasets in Power BI? Objective: By asking this, I seek to evaluate the candidate's familiarity with strategies to manage performance issues in Power BI, such as employing data modeling best practices, implementing summarization and filtering techniques, and utilizing features like aggregations and composite models. 3. What methods do you employ for data security and access control in Power BI? Objective: This question probes the candidate's understanding of Power BI's security features, including row-level security (RLS), dataset security, and mechanisms for managing access to reports and dashboards. I am unable to hire 4 good #powerbi developers, you know why? ⭐ Most of the candidates had given higher self ratings, when I asked to rate themselves on the scale of 1-5 about following skills. #dax, #powerquery, #visulization & #datamodelling Why candidates are failing because of two main reasons. Worked on simple dashboards. Worked only on data visualisation and dax. But the core of the becoming the pro in #powerbi is understanding the data and data model. Unless you do not understand the data and data model you can't be a great power bi developer. There is huge crowd out there who learn power bi via youtube(nothing wrong) and use either HR dashboard or online shoping dashboards with simple KPI. But, when it comes to realtime business dashboard it is hard to solve the problems with skills you acquired via online learning modes. Building skills and master the art of BI & Analytics required more in depth understanding of the data and business logics. #bi #analytics
