Follow your passion they say, and you will be happy. The rewards will quickly flow directly into your hands. Perhaps not. Three factors need to be fulfilled for you to love your work and feel truly motivated Autonomy: you have control over your day and your actions are important. Competence: you feel good at what you do. Relatedness: you feel connected to other people. None of these mention “follow your passion”. Instead take the time to build skills and get good. If these skills are rare and valuable then congratulations you have career-capital, and the rewards will accumulate. You won’t get autonomy until you become skilled at something. Develop what you can offer the world. The alternative is to ask “What does the world offer me?” and reject something quickly if it doesn’t match your heart’s desires. When you do that you focus only upon what is missing or frustrating: that annoying task that you have been assigned or some mind-boggling organisational bureaucracy “What do you truly love?” can be very hard to answer early in your career, or even when you reached a career goal. Maybe a passion-led career leads to doubt and unhappiness. An unsatisfied life of feeling stuck and continual comparison against some mythical future. So focus on being better. Deliberately Develop™ your skills and increase the value of what you have to offer. You don’t have to have a pre-existing passion waiting to be discovered: build career-capital and then cash-in. Would you expect good work before getting good? Once you are good at something (and this book means great), possibilities emerge in adjacent areas. You might just find your mission there. Take little bets that develop you and see how they increase what you offer the world. Are you finding the right work or working right? #TuesdayTwoWays #Passion #Career #Job #Calling #Work #CareerCapital #Skills #Good

Why Do I Feel Guilty for Wanting More in My Career? Have you ever found yourself questioning why you feel guilty for wanting more out of your career? If so, you’re not alone. Many of us grapple with this feeling, especially in a society that often emphasises gratitude for what we have. It can be confusing and frustrating when your ambitions seem to clash with the expectations around you. The Reality of Guilt It’s common to feel guilty when you desire more fulfillment, alignment, and joy in your professional life. Society has conditioned us to believe that we should be satisfied with our current situation, but the truth is that wanting more doesn’t make you ungrateful; it means you’re human. You have aspirations, dreams, and the potential for growth that deserve acknowledgment. Shifting Your Perspective It’s essential to understand that ambition and gratitude can coexist. Just because you’re thankful for where you are doesn’t mean you have to settle. Embracing a mindset that allows for both appreciation and ambition can open up new possibilities for your career. Setting Guilt-Free Goals One way to navigate this guilt is to define what “more” means for you personally. Is it more time with your family? More purpose in your work? More opportunities to make an impact? Setting goals that resonate with your true desires can help you own your ambitions unapologetically. Reframing Your Mindset Instead of viewing guilt as a negative emotion, consider it a sign of your growth. Feeling unfulfilled in your current role may indicate that you’re ready for your next chapter. It’s perfectly okay to outgrow your job—this is a natural part of your professional journey. Let’s Explore Together If you’re feeling conflicted about your career desires, know that you’re not alone in this journey. I was talking to someone recently who is about to return to work after a break. She is questioning if she really wants to return to this particular job, as she feels it is a career she has fallen into rather than deliberately chosen. She is approaching mid-life and wants to be doing something she is passionate about. She's not alone! Many women feel stuck and unsatisfied in their careers. It's a sign you are ready for growth and new challenges! Change, especially careers, can be daunting but also deeply rewarding! As Confucius said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." So here are some things I find help navigate this transition with confidence and purpose: 📋 SELF ASSESSMENT - the most important step...start by understanding yourself! What are your core values, interests, strengths, skills? What aspect of your current role gives you energy, makes you buzz! For me in my previous career as a Commercial Leader, it was helping people grow, develop and smash their performance! What type of environment do you thrive in? Have you done a personality test, career or strengths finder assessment? These can help you paint a picture of your preferred career path or even new business! 🤝 RESEARCH & NETWORK - once you have a sense of direction, research industries/roles that align with your interests and skills. Reach out to people on LinkedIn/at networking events or friends/friends of friends! These can offer invaluable insights, advice and even job leads. 🤹 BUILD NEW SKILLS - identify your skills gap. Look at courses, workshops (Linkedin learning is also a good place to start) or certifications that can bridge gaps. Learning is a continuous journey and nowadays there are plenty of options 'on and offline'. Remember you are never too old! 🙋♀️GET A COACH - now of course I am going to add this, as I am a Coach! I will also add this is my biggest regret, I waited too long to get the help and support I needed. When I did get coached the 'light bulb' moments kept coming and the path forward became clear! Change is never easy, but when we take the first step and get some help, that's when our path unfolds in exciting and unexpected ways! Have you successfully navigated a career change, or are you considering one? What have you found most valuable or where are you stuck? Share your experience, or questions in the comments below...and reach out if you want some help! #Navigatingchange #coachingtips #careerchange #newbeginnings #lovewhatyoudo #midlifemastery #maximisingpotential

#Life has a way of throwing curveballs when we least expect them. Recently, I found myself in a challenging situation that tested my resilience and adaptability. After receiving a promising job offer from a new company, I took a leap of faith by resigning from my position in Al Barakah Holdings with high hopes for the future. However, fate had a different plan….!! Just as I was settling into what I thought would be my next great career chapter, I was informed that the project's at the new company had been put on hold and they don’t need my service anymore (after thousands of irresponsive calls and messages ). This unexpected twist left me in a difficult and disheartening situation: no job, no income, and mounting responsibilities that included family maintenance, rent, hospital expenses and daily living expenses. The sense of uncertainty and financial strain quickly became overwhelming into a crucial level. I want to share this experience not to seek sympathy but to highlight a reality, many face when navigating career transitions. The road to success is rarely a straight path; it’s often filled with unexpected detours and challenges. For anyone going through a similar situation, I hope my story resonates and provides some solace. 1. #Embrace Resilience: It’s okay to feel lost and overwhelmed. Acknowledging these feelings is the first step towards finding a way forward. Resilience isn’t about never feeling defeated; it’s about finding the strength to rise each time you fall. 2. #Seek Support: Don’t hesitate to reach out for help. Whether it’s family, friends, or professional advisors, support systems can offer guidance, encouragement, and practical solutions to navigate through tough times. 3. #Adapt and Learn: Use these experiences as learning opportunities. Each challenge teaches us something valuable, whether it's about ourselves or the world around us. Adapting to change and learning from it can ultimately lead to growth and new opportunities. 4. #Keep Moving Forward: Even when it feels like everything is at a standstill, continue to push forward. Update your skills, explore new opportunities, and stay proactive in your job search. Progress may be slow, but each step forward is a step closer to your goal. Life’s challenges can be daunting, but they also offer us a chance to rebuild stronger. I’m sharing my journey to remind others that even in the darkest moments, there’s hope and the possibility of a brighter path ahead. Thank you to everyone who has supported me during this time. Thanks @BGS for #cheating me, Sorry #teaching me the lesson 😌 . I’m determined to navigate through these stormy waters and emerge more resilient and focused on the future. Remember, no matter how rough the sea, there’s always a shore waiting to be discovered. Stay hopeful, stay strong, and keep moving forward. Good luck to everyone.. 🌄 #CareerJourney #CareerTransitions #LifeLessons

𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓻𝓽 𝓨𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓒𝓸𝓾𝓻𝓼𝓮: 𝓚𝓷𝓸𝔀 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓦𝓪𝔂 𝓸𝓻 𝓕𝓲𝓷𝓭 𝓘𝓽 Some weeks back I had a conversation with a friend and she had an event in the state I was based before, so I had to help her with the direction to the event location. I had no idea where the place was so I asked a friend who described how to get there, then I related it with her. She wasn’t getting it as such so she said she was going to find her way! Then the thought struck me, which is better? To know your way or find your way!! When you know the Way: 🏃🏻🏃🏻 You can reach your destination quickly and confidently, without getting lost or wasting time. 🏃🏻🏃🏻 Knowing the way helps eliminate the anxiety and uncertainty that come with navigating unfamiliar territory. 🏃🏻🏃🏻 Since you're familiar with the route, you can focus on enjoying the scenery or other aspects of the journey. When you have to find the Way: 🚶♀️🚶♀️ It fosters independence, resilience, and problem-solving abilities because you have to navigate unfamiliar territory, though it can be more time-consuming and challenging. 🚶♀️🚶♀️ Embarking on a new path can lead to exciting and rewarding experiences you might otherwise miss. 🚶♀️🚶♀️ The ability to find your way in unfamiliar situations is a valuable skill that can be applied to various aspects of life. This is not just about the route to a physical location, it also includes our career path. Sometimes when trying to navigate a new career path, we might not know our way around it but getting a mentor who has gone through that route could also translate to us knowing the way because they will guide us through the journey. Though both have their disadvantages as well, however, if you prioritize efficiency and certainty, knowing the way might be the better option. And If you value personal growth, adventure, and the thrill of discovery, finding your way could be the more rewarding path. The real deal regardless is to know what you want and go for it!! You can choose to “follow who know road” as they say or “find the road yourself and help others know the road” ☺️ Remember, our choice depends on us as an individual, our circumstances, and our goals. PS: which is it for you? Know the way or find the way, I would love to know in the comments? PS: one of the bts of my last shoot😂🫣 ************************************************************** 𝓙𝓾𝓼𝓽 𝓰𝓮𝓽𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓸 𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀 𝓶𝓮? Another day… and a meaningful personal experience from Chirine 😅. A while back, I found myself in a cycle of doing what was expected from me, like many of us, moving from one role to the next without stopping .. stopping to think if it made sense for me. My days were filled with meetings and conscious self gaslighting, and while I was “successful”… something felt off. I even reached a point where I doubted myself and was wondering if I was there just because I am a woman… While it is certainly not the case! And I am being #humble here 😎 After a sudden 20kg gain that nobody noticed 🫣and other life battles, I was exhausted and I decided to ✋ and take care of myself … I expected to be understood without explaining, I expected #fairness… cause that was the way I was with others… Oh those expectations without actions 😔 I took that mini #careerbreak, and I was truly alone with my thoughts… without any external factors… I had the space to reclaim myself! I was finally #honest with myself, reflected on what truly motivated me, what brought me joy, and what was simply draining. And in that solitude, I felt something powerful, freedom, the freedom to think… the freedom to choose a path that truly aligned with who I #proudly became… cause, yes, it happens to have personal growth! I understood that true fulfilment is when professional #growth and personal growth go hand in hand…. That my definition of #success was about finding roles that allowed me to bring my whole self to the table… not to be forced in a box that was too small. I realized how much I had been carrying the weight of others’ definitions of me, definition of my career… and I naively trusted it!!! Thinking that going with the flow would take me where I deserve 😅 and how rarely I paused to think about what I actually do deserve or just what I wanted… Cause I lost sights of my values, of who I was … who I am, even stronger, and with inner-peace today! My conclusion was that you need to choose your career moves with clarity and confidence, find them first. Then, stick to cultures and roles that fit your values. That the best way to grow is to get clear on what you want, step back if needed, then build a career that reflects your value proposition! I know, simple for many apparently, so I do not expect any #engagement on this post 😉

Life is a beautiful journey full of soaring highs and learning lows. But the secret sauce to navigating this adventure with grace? A job that fuels your passion, challenges your mind, and fills your heart with joy. "The best job you've ever had is the one you create for yourself." Are you still searching for the perfect career path? You're not alone. Many of us have pondered at some point, "Is this job really where I'm meant to be?" As they say, "The only way to do great work is to love what you do." After all, job satisfaction isn't just about the paycheck; it's about the opportunity to grow, to contribute, to feel valued, and yes, to thrive both personally and professionally. As Maya Angelou once said, "Working against your type is a complete waste of time, of heart and soul." Your workplace should be a playground, where every challenge is an invitation to grow, and every task, a step toward achieving your dreams. But remember, turning a job into your dream job isn't always an overnight success. It may require courage, determination, and resilience. As Tony Robbins wisely put it, "Stagnation is not a death knell. It is life knocking you down to size things up, so opposing forces are matched. It is being clueless about one more subtlety of life until you understand the previous." So let's celebrate this journey together. Because every job quote that inspires us is a stepping stone to more meaningful connections, better opportunities, and a life that truly resonates. Whatever your personal or professional journey, remember, "Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work." - Steve Jobs Don't you think it's time to start that conversation with yourself? Find that job that makes your heart sing, and share your path with others on LinkedIn. Because we all have something to give and learn. 🔑Here's to crafting the career you love and turning your dreams into reality!💼🚀 #JobSuccess #CareerGoals #JobQuotes #DreamJob

Don't just exist, stand out and drive your career forward! 🌟 Most of us have been there: quietly navigating the office corridors, blending into the background, and playing the role of a non-playable character (NPC). We tell ourselves that our voice doesn’t matter, that our actions won’t change the game. But here’s the truth: we’re not NPCs; we’re the main characters of our own stories. It’s time to level up and become the protagonist of your own professional journey! So, how do you break free from the NPC script and step into the spotlight? Let’s dive in: Own Your Narrative: Stop waiting for someone else to write your story. You’re not a passive observer; you’re the author. Take charge of your career plotline. What do you want to achieve? What legacy do you want to leave behind? Speak Up: NPCs nod and fade into the background. Main characters speak their minds. Share your ideas, challenge the status quo, and contribute meaningfully. Remember, your voice matters—even if it feels like a whisper at first. Listen to Your Inner Voice: Understand your wants, needs, and boundaries. What makes you happy? What excites you? Prioritize self-awareness and protect your joy. Learn to say “no” when necessary. Quest for Growth: NPCs follow the same routine day in and day out. Main characters seek growth and adventure. Take on new challenges, learn new skills, and level up. Whether it’s a side quest (a project outside your comfort zone) or a grand adventure (a career shift), embrace it. Break Free from People Pleasing: Trying to please everyone is a form of control. Be authentic, even if it means disappointing others. Remember, you’re not here to be a doormat; you’re here to shine. Plot Twists and Resilience: Life throws curveballs. NPCs crumble; main characters adapt. When faced with setbacks, pivot. Your resilience is your superpower. Remember, setbacks are plot twists, not the end of the story. Examples of Main Character Moves 😊 1) Initiate Conversations: Don’t wait for the quest giver; approach them first. 2) Lead Meetings: Share your insights and take the lead. 3) Volunteer for Projects: Be the hero who steps up. 4) Learn Continuously: Skill trees exist for a reason—unlock new abilities 5) Networking: Attend industry events, connect with peers, and build meaningful relationships. 6) Take risks: Volunteer for challenging tasks or leadership roles. 7}: Share your insights in meetings and discussions. 8) Learning & Growing: Invest in your professional development. Remember, your career story is yours to write. So step out of the shadows, embrace your main character energy, and make your work life an epic adventure! You're welcome 😊 #MainCharacterEnergy #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment

The Power of Seeking "Better" in Life: Why You Should Never Settle In life, there’s a common phrase we often hear: “Never settle.” But what does it truly mean to seek better in all aspects of life—your environment, career, relationships, friendships, and more? A recent tweet from @robreeezy caught my attention: "There is always better. A better environment, a better career, better relationships, better friends, better everything. Never settle." These words are not just motivational, but they echo a deeper call to action for anyone looking to improve their life. 1. A Better Environment Where you surround yourself physically and emotionally plays a huge role in your well-being. Often, we find ourselves in places that no longer serve us—be it a toxic workplace, unsupportive community, or even a draining social media feed. Change your environment to foster growth. This might mean moving to a different city, seeking out new networks, or simply creating boundaries with people who stifle your potential. 2. A Better Career Are you truly satisfied with your job? Do you wake up feeling fulfilled? The idea of a "better career" isn’t just about chasing a higher paycheck—it’s about finding purpose in your work. What excites you? What impact do you want to make? If your current career path feels stagnant, it’s time to look for new opportunities where you can thrive, learn, and grow. After all, a job should be more than just a means to an end. 3. Better Relationships and Friends Relationships, whether romantic or platonic, should uplift you. As we grow, the people around us should evolve too. Not every friendship or relationship is meant to last forever. Some might weigh us down more than we realize. Seek people who challenge you to be the best version of yourself—those who bring positivity, trust, and joy into your life. It’s never too late to surround yourself with people who align with your values and ambitions. 4. Embrace the Journey, Not the Destination The pursuit of “better” isn’t about being ungrateful or constantly dissatisfied. It’s about recognizing your worth and understanding that you deserve to be in spaces that nurture your potential. The journey to a better life is ongoing, filled with self-discovery and growth. You may not have all the answers today, but by being open to change and embracing new experiences, you are paving the way for a brighter future. 5. Why Never Settle? Settling means accepting less than what you truly desire or deserve. It’s easy to fall into the trap of comfort, staying in situations that feel "good enough." But what if "good enough" is holding you back from something greater? Life is too short to be complacent in areas that can blossom into something extraordinary.
