The High Court ruled that the UK government’s #ClimateStrategy is inadequate and lacks transparency, forcing it to redraw its Net Zero plan and prove that it will effectively reduce emissions to meet its pledges. 🔎 What is the lesson for businesses?🔎 The challenges faced by the #UK government mirror those we often see in the corporate world. Breaking news 🚨 We won, again!💥We've just defeated the government in the High Court over its unlawful climate plan. This judgment is a huge win for our climate. We’re proud to have brought this case to court, alongside Client Earth and Good Law Project. The government has pledged to reduce UK emissions by 68% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels. But it's now dangerously off track to meet this and other climate targets. We now urgently need a new climate plan that would meet the UK’s climate targets and benefit people’s lives through lower energy bills, warm homes, clean air, better public transport and well-paid green jobs. 22 EU Member States have yet to submit updated National Energy and Climate Plans to the European Commission, a serious blow to the European Union's position as a global climate leader.    The EU must use its new mandate to address the logistical, political, and funding obstacles that prevent member states from setting a clear path to reach climate targets. Ranking our Parties' Climate Change Policies Have you worked out who has the best package of climate-change policies going into the UK election? This is not a trivial question, and I had a crack at it for VoteClimate, by systematically evaluating each of the climate-related policies in the party manifestos, and trying to gauge total impacts on emissions by 2030.
