Egypt and Saudi Arabia Discuss Expanding Industrial, Transport, and Logistics Cooperation Shipping Arabia, August 02, 2024 — In a pivotal meeting aimed at deepening bilateral ties, Eng. Kamel El-Wazir, Egypt’s Vice Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, hosted Eng. Khalid Al-Falih, the Saudi Minister of Investment. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in industry, transport, and logistics, attended by dignitaries including the Saudi Ambassador to Egypt and key leaders from both nations. Vice Prime Minister El-Wazir highlighted the strategic directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to boost economic partnerships with Saudi Arabia, underscoring the readiness of Egypt’s transport and industry sectors to support this initiative. He elaborated on Egypt’s ambitious projects, including the development of seven integrated international logistics corridors connecting major industrial and urban centers with seaports, aimed at transforming the logistic frameworks of the region. Minister Al-Falih reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to enhancing economic cooperation, expressing strong interest from Saudi companies in investing in Egypt's expanding industrial and logistics landscape. He emphasized the strategic importance of projects that align with mutual economic interests, particularly in logistics, which serve as a backbone for substantial bilateral cooperation. El-Wazir detailed significant corridors such as the Ain Sokhna - Alexandria corridor, which links key industrial zones with major seaports, facilitating swift and secure transport of goods and bolstering the logistic capabilities of the region. He also highlighted the Cairo/Alexandria and Al-Arish/Taba logistic corridors, pivotal in enhancing the connectivity across Egypt’s vast geographic span. The meeting concluded with mutual recognition of the vast opportunities for investment in Egypt’s maritime and transport sectors. Both ministers expressed optimism about the future, noting the ongoing efforts to foster a conducive environment for thriving Saudi-Egyptian partnerships in industry, transport, and logistics. Turkmenistan and Türkiye discussed cooperation in the field of international transport   On August 16, a meeting between the Consul General of Turkmenistan M. Ovezov and the leadership of the Association of International Road Carriers of Turkey (UND) was held in Istanbul. Representative of the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan Orazmyrat Hydyrov was also present at the meeting. The parties discussed innovative approaches to the development of transport and logistics, including the use of digital technologies to improve transport infrastructure.
