INSTAND attended the 2024 EQALM Symposium and General Assembly  in Vienna, Austria from 16-18 October. Prof. Dr. med. Michael Spannagl, INSTAND e.V. Board of Directors: Chairman of the Board, represented INSTAND with the following presentation topic: Clinical Impact of EQA. Key Points: ◾ Laboratory results have an important impact on the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients but also the prevention of disease ◾ EQA allows for the comparison of available test systems and for the comparison of laboratories in respective ring trials ◾ EQA may allow for effectiveness perspective in the comparative assessment of laboratory test systems ◾ Cross-sectional and longitudinal comparability of lab values is of utmost importance for national and global healthcare structures ◾ Relevant consensus documents and guidelines rely on direct comparability of laboratory results obtained in different clinical situations, also for POCT results EQALM is an umbrella organization for European EQA organizers in laboratory medicine.
