Caring for aging adults, especially your parents, is challenging. Oftentimes when stepping into a caregiving role, adult children haven't had time to think through all of the caregiving requirements. These include: → How many hours can you provide care each week? Remember that caregiving requirements could expand as your loved ones age. Realistically estimate your potential caregiving contribution. → What types of caregiving are you comfortable with? This is the most overlooked aspect for new caregivers. Caregiving could include remote activities such as bill paying, organizing transportation, and scheduling appointments. In person tasks could include bathing, laundry, cooking, and cleaning. Caregivers need to assess what types of caregiving they're comfortable providing. #eldercare #caregiving

Ahead of #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth (November), we join The White House House in honoring the strength, compassion, and resilience of America’s family caregivers. President Biden's proclamation reaffirms a commitment to supporting our nation's 53 million caregivers who often juggle complex care roles without sufficient support. The proclamation highlights data from NAC and AARP, while also giving a nod to the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers. Caregivers provide essential, unpaid care every day, often at a great personal cost. The administration’s continued work—through policies, funding, and the first-ever National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers—aims to relieve this hardship. Let’s take the coming month to recognize, honor, and advocate for those who care for our loved ones. Read the full proclamation for more information. https://lnkd.in/eV7HjmC2 Learn more about the National Strategy. https://lnkd.in/grmcp4PR #ICare #FamilyCaregivers #CaregiverSupport #NFMC2024 #Caregiving #CaregivingIsLove
